Hi, I am looking to get a new single monitor that I will use primarily for gaming but since I also study Architecture I need decent colour accuracy etc for CAD, Photoshop etc etc.

I was debating an IPS panel but having 144hz is also important (even if my current card doesn't support it), I have never compared these in person and I play a lot less FPS than I used to so I'd happily sacrifice some gaming performance for having a monitor that won't make images appear strange when printed as my current one does due to lack of colour depth (cheap TV). Card is AMD, might replace in 5 years or so (Don't know if g/freesync is worth it)

Smaller bezels are preferable. I'd imagine 1080p is best although 1440 might be better since theoretically you can downgrade, my card has good connectivety with HDMI, DVI(s) and DP but won't run intense games on higher resolution+refresh rate. I don't currently plan on running multi monitor-my card has 2x DVI to support this.

I spend a long time at my desk; anything that reduces eyestrain is major bonus.

I am not looking for anything ultrawide, ideally 27 inch but no smaller than 24. Extra features like energy stars, USB ports and the like are irrelevant but a bonus. Budget: £150-200 ideally but willing to go above £300 for quality including P&P

Any advice on whether pursuing an 144z IPS over much more affordable 144/60hz TN panels is worth the cost for my needs?

Preliminary Suggestions:
Alienware AW2518HF? TN but otherwise favourite choice?
ASUS VX279HG?

or even HP 24w?

Product suggestions needed but general advice also appreciated!

Thank you for your response,
