Advice on current 600$ budget build.

Howdy guys, was hoping I could get some advice on a new build ill trying to get by the 5th of next month.

Approximate Purchase Date: 5th of March


Budget Range: 500-600$


System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming I would say is the most important for me, I would like to be able to play the best of the best games at 1080p max settings with as much reasonable AA AF possible.

But also having the ability to watch multi-task real smoothly is real important to me as well eg. play a game and have a tv show streaming from fire fox on another monitor at the same time without losing FPS or bogging my system down to much or alt tab out of a game to change episodes/movies or browse the net for a bit and if its not too much to ask for a 600$ budget watch high def movies or tv shows whilst gaming.


Parts Not Required: Strictly just looking for base necesitys eg.. CPU, MOBO, RAM, GPU, PSU, CASE. no external components needed.


Preferred Website(s) for Parts: I like newegg.com alot, tigerdirect is alright.

Country of Origin: USA


Parts Preferences: Whatevers best fit for my gaming multi tasking needs.


Overclocking: No


SLI or Crossfire: No

Im thinking about dropp the the processor down to a phenom 2 x4 820 denub and usin the left over cash to bump the gpu up to a 6950. Too much bottle neck or?

Check out my 600$ build. It should be pretty sweet. I don't suggest getting open box mobos though. They turn out pretty bad.

Since you don't need an HDD, my 600$ build would turn out pretty good. Especially since you'll be able to pick up a 6950 or something along the lines of that. IE 6870. Cept you'll need a stronger PSU. And for that cost might as well get this psu instead of that seeasonic. More power and same 80+

Yea i thought the open box mobo was probably a bad idea. That mobo and psu seem much better then the latter. Im just not too sure about the processor choice, I really dont want to do any overclocking. If i were to say drop the cpu down to a phenom 2 x4 820 denub, with your suggested psu would and a 6950 be enough power? And what kind of a bottle neck if any am i looking at?

Your not looking at much of a bottleneck either. But I suggest getting the 925. Not the 820. The 820 is a bit worse.

Although that's not the 925, it's close enough, the 820 doesn't exactly have the same amount of cache. Granted cache doesn't make up a big deal in perf. But in certain situations it does help.

I like the 955BE. It's got identical performance to the 975 if you spend 5 minutes in your bios. And it's unlocked--which I like better than the 925. But the 925 is cheaper. IMO, stay away from the 800 series Phenom II's. They're for OEMs pretty much (low performance).

+1 955BE, reasonably good low cost but OCable no frills 770 chipset and voila HD 6870 included and still under budget 😛

ahwsome, i like the sound that build. still thinkin about maybe throwin 100 over budget(well only $78 for that build) for a 6950. Worth it?

Well if u are on a 30" 2560 x 1600 i would say a 2GB HD 6950 is worth the top up but your call ^^

Or if he's using that card two years from now or a Crossfire setup of that card in three years--then we can be pretty sure he'll use the frame buffer.

Also, if you have a couple bucks, make sure to get the Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB HDD. It's the best bang for your buck out there by a pretty wide margin.

And make sure whatever case you get can fit your graphics card.

Only problem is that now we're talking about a $700 build instead of $550. And if you have an existing build that you can play any games on at all, you really should upgrade that and wait for Sandy Bridge/Bulldozer if we're talking $700 computer.

By upgrade, I mean buy a new case, new PSU, new HDD, maybe graphics--specifically things that can all be carried to a new machine and still be awesome.
