you guys must think AMD is that stupid, huh? simply buy a cheaper 3 core processor and enable the 4th core and everything runs smoothly? yeah... millions invested into a new processor and simply changing one option enables an extra core.

seriously now besides the BS, can anyone on TOMS confirm it? not the 50 new members from korea that are just talk talk talk?

hmmmmmmmm.........it's true. because of this 'problem', AMD P2 heka 710 & 720 are blocked to buy on korea(yong-san hardware shops), temporarily.

really? care to provide link to evidence? and why would they stop shipping? the manufacturer only loses money, not the supplier. makes no sense economically.

edit: only thing thumbing down my posts is doing is showing how ridiculous your argument is. you are the same person logging in and out of different accounts boasting your stupid claim.

Wonder why there are only 'strangers' posting in this topic being mesmerized by your claims? huh... lets see:

According to the website, the author introduces the history of this accidental discovery.

When the first discoverer found it, most people thought his machine had some inexplainable problems. Indeed, he was not able to run 3DMark06 even though Prime95 worked fine with 4 cores. Furthermore, noone knew how to enable the dead core at the time. Nevertheless some geeks continuously tried to find the exact way to revive the core, and they finally seemed to make it by turning on Advanced Clock Calibration = AUTO.

Unfortunately, not all X3 products are possible to be transformed into X4 according to reports from parkoz website. I think only the CPUs that were produced in 2009 4th week (0904DPDW) seem to work well. However, we still need more information and reports to conclude.

lol, that kind of thing happens all the time.

I like how the only "people" confirming this have the same writing style as the OP and have only posted in this thread. And they spam "thumbs down" on anybody that disagrees.

Probably BS, or maybe a fluke processor. ACC should have no effect on the number of cores.

its the same guy unless everyone in korea owns a 3 core phenom. like i said before and i will say it again:

someone from toms needs to confirm this.

and btw to the post above:
nice copy + paste of the same cpu usage. quad are 8 core processors with a simple photoshop huh? funny how i NEVER have the same core usage on my DUAL CORE unless its peaked yet you have 8 perfectly symmetrical cores working at the same loads at the same exact time.

damn... i need to work for mythbusters.

yeah that's what i said about 2 hours ago but spath had to pretend he knew what he was talking about. im glad to see at least one other person posting here that has his head on straight.

EDIT: for you korean members that thumbed down my previous thread i will be happy to repost it:

Like I said, its probably the same person or just a swarm of their posters from the korean site thats been linked here. Either way, the pictures alone can at least somewhat clarify at least that ONE chip being able to do this. But their means of justification arent needed, dont need 1000 people saying the same thing. Its a take it for what it is thing.

Nobody is pretending anything. Stop acting like you are scared of this processor, or these koreans.

Learn to let some stuff get by you, and get over it.

Wanna MOV Files? This post got CPU-Z two screen shots. and 3500Mhz shot
is mine. Yeah, I have X3 720 Black Edition and I make My X3 720BE to Quadcore.

So, I'll be make MOV files and liked it. So, That U can be Trust?

Hey go for it.

All I can say about this is the possibility seems to be there but the problem is that ACC is mobo side and the disabled core is normally CPU side. Hell sometimes they burn the bad core out.

And even if it is true being able to load Prime 95 doesn't mean a damn thing. When I had my Q6600@ 3GHz but my memory was at too low voltage I could load Prime 95 no problem. But let it actually run and show what kind of errors you will get.

At first the errors wont be bad but this will lead to corrupted data and eventually that disabled core that was meant to not work would cause a needed system file/driver to be corrupted and bam. The entire OS install is screwed or the data leads to the lovely BSoD.

BTW Spath here is a actual CPU-Z screenie for the Phenom II 940:

Phenom_II_CPUZ.jpg

And the 720 X3:

amd_am3_cpuz2.png

Thing is it does show it as a AM2+ CPU and also the thing about BOTH of the posters CPU-Z shots is that they are using version 1.50 and the 7 in the 720 is missing yet in version 1.49 in the pics I linked they show the full 720.

Also one of his lower CPU-Z shots says 1.50.1 and the other says 1.50.

TBH, I find it extremely hard to believe that a SB/mobo side setting that actually controls the calibration between the CPU and the SB for better OCing would allow for the disabled core to unlock when normally the core is locked on the well CPU itself. Thats like if it was a Celeron with lower cache having a setting in the BIOS that somehow activates the cache. Just not easily believeable.

Just imagine..
Why we post this issue on this site..
we just wanted to share of that information..
after 1 person succeed to change core..
he posted on korea hardware community site which called 'Parkoz'
after people know that inf.. lots of people tried to buy it..
with motherboard.. which has 750 sb,able to change acc core voltage..
like asrock790gx,??? and so on..
now more that 5 people success to change quadcore..
from heca710,720be ..
hey dudu..
we r not lier..
also we don't need to lie..as u know today is not First of April..
