AMD PII 965 and 955

With a reasonably decent mainboard, could i overclock the pII 965 to 3.8 ghz on sotck voltages or maybe with just a couple more milivolts added to make the overclock stable? i am going to get an ASUS Triton 81 cooler, would someone say because of this, i might as well get a 955 because with air cooling i'm more or less going to be able to overclock them both to the same frequency. But will the PII 965 consume less power overall when it is clocked to it's highest possibility using third party air cooling.

its been said its as easy to get the 955 to 3.8ghz as it is to get the 965 to 4.0-4.1 this is because when voltage is on auto, the 965 is programmed to accept more voltage than the 955 which is why many say the 965 is an overclocked 955

I mean consume less power than the 955 at the same high frequency at say 3.8ghz.

Isn't it more stable though to manual configure the voltages. Such as would i have to increase it to 1.45 volts or 1.5 volts at 4ghz. This is the 965. So the 965 is actually slightly better at overclocking that the 955. But the extra price isn't that much more justified.

I got my P II 955 upto 4.0 GHz on a Zalman pure copper cooler at 1.375 volts

Which do you guys think is overall the best aftermarket cooler for the 955? I'm just lookin to get a new one, i want to get 4ghz from my cpu (poss more)

ill eventually overclock my 955 so wanted to get some heads up on paste and cooler for it

what would yall consider stable? i just ran stability test using amd overdrive and i had lil over half the boxes run smoothe but when i checked the next 3 from the bottom it failed soon after start... only maxed out at 51c though running 3.81... should i up volts? or i be ok ? i mean all 4 cores were 100% and there is not a game on any settings that will require that kinda power. just wanted some ideas

personally speaking, my 955 is SUPER HARD to overclock and amd's overclock mainly on cooling or the temperature of the cpu

the highest overclock ive done on mine was 8.2 for half a second

but the highest stable overclock waz 3.8 ; i'd say thats pretty darn good for a cnps9700

so i shouldnt up volts or anything? it should be stable enough for pretty mcuh anything? it ran test for 2 hours without a glitch or hault... then left it on idle for 4 hours and still no problems... just under pretty much the full stability test from aod which is insane load it failed.. i should be fine though might up the volts just a tad bit
