We have had several requests for a sticky on AMD's yet to be released Piledriver architecture ... so here it is.

I want to make a few things clear though.

Post a question relevant to the topic, or information about the topic, or it will be deleted.

Post any negative personal comments about another user ... and they will be deleted.

Post flame baiting comments about the blue, red and green team and they will be deleted.

Enjoy ...

I'd think in many reason, the main one, because a normal user using an APU will never load the rig as 3DMark does....

They should use real games and real apps to test their new CPU's/GPU's. But I've always hated synthetic benchmarks they always make things seem better then what they are. I'm a little more interested on their power consumption remark how did they get this statement. Under normal browsing(Word, power point) or watching videos/gaming or maybe just a very LONG idle.

That's going to happen really soon, actually.

I don't know if the NDA lasts (if there is any) till the release date, but at least the benchies should pop or start popping after the 15th. With "real" games and stuff (corridor benchies).

And mal... The GF wanted a local notebook instead of the new build; you know who rules the house, mate 8(

Cheers!

I want a 95W PhII X6 1055T.

Sounds like you didn't buy high enough. Always good to buy more power than need so when think need upgrade you don't. If you go small upgrade and small upgrade you pay bigger price. By the time your Athlon II X2 or whatever needs upgrade to Athlon II X4, you use $60 + $100 = $160, then when you need Phenom II X6 it you pay more for it. With that can buy your dream Phenom II X6. Faster and stronger CPU for you needs. Maybe like $160 + $100 + 80 = $340 have you spent now? You've used up $$$i7 2600K now.

And I am sure a 7800GTX or a X1900/HD2900 would still beat a HD4000. The older high end GPUs were high end for a reason, they had what it takes to push games. My HD5870 is holding up very well considering its age (3 years old now) as it still is almost as good as a HD6950.

We know most games are very console bound, except some like Batman AC or the upcoming MP3.

Hmm maybe I should dig out some of my more vintage cards like my x1900xt or 7900gtx duo (massive card) but hte 1900xt has no modern driver support 🙁

Got a Diamond Monster 3D for those who know what card that is :sol:

Stupid that society makes people like us you me buy new hardware because they need you to upgrade for money.

For most of us AMD users, the Thubans are the way to go. Who can't but love the ol fuddy duddy hammer and the middle finger it gives to eco friendly policies.

The first settings to go on my motherboard is the ludicrous EPU and CnQ features. Power saving, what nonsense.

True and most companies only focus on developing bloatware, one now days almost needs a quad core and 8gb of ram just to run firefox let alone any thing else. As for games well it took them years before they stopped focusing so much on just textures and started making decent models. Many games from the late 90s up through 2004-07 looked terrible due to poor models even though many to begin off with had decent textures. As for the most modern games all I can say it took them long enough.

I believe I wasted more money than that on pointless incremental upgrades!

I recall buying a Sempron for amusement. 😀

That's why I'm iffy about it. :)

I was thinking of saving up for a Skylake/Skymont CPU.

😀

my mobile k660i got 1MB RAM 😀 , and i serve upto 10 desktop pages using opera mini 6.5 and it is still smooth and faster than desktop.
But 3G is not working 🙁 in my phone so it takes sometime to load pages
i found opera mini more convient than any desktop browsers.
