Just like I said a few days ago, the 7770 is overpriced. The 7750, in light of its awesome power consumption and HTPC applicability, is pretty cool. I honestly can't believe AMD did this, I was really looking forward to the 7770- I don't want to pay $200+ for the 78xx series. Although the lower power consumption and other features would be nice, I think I'll wait a month and see what happens to the 6850's price. It can already be had on newegg for $140. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161384

Luckily it's the x7xx line, meaning budget, otherwise I would be very disappointed. I am, however, impressed by the 7750, which doesn't need a PEG connector. I know a few people that love low-wattage video cards for the low noise and easier maintenance.

as a movie watching HTPC card the 7750 fits the bill but for decent gaming it sucks and to give the 7750 a prize is a fallacy.

Allryt now, 7770 lookin' good on the benches. its just a matter of time before that card gets to it's real value. That's when it'll blow the rest.

Allthough, gotta say, 7750 is a HUGE leap forward from 6750. I almost never saw anybody using a 6750, but now it seems that 7750 is all set to change that.

(Sigh), only if nVidia were to show off it's wares too!! :-(

[citation][nom]jtt283[/nom]Launch prices are always high, so I'm not going to beat on that [dead] horse; I just never buy anything at launch. What will be interesting is how quickly they drop, and how much. I really hope Kepler shows well. to encourage that process.XFX will make a single-slot HD7770 soon enough, and Powercolor will release one with no PCIE power connector. Sapphire or HIS will make it low-profile. Some combination of those will likely be the one I buy, either a HD7750 for ~$80-$90 or a HD7770 for ~$100-$110.[/citation]

7770 in the range of 100$-110$?? then wait up till Dec. 2013!! Buwaahaahaaahaa!!!

I wonder what the crossfire capabilities will be with the new AMD Trinity APUs and these new cards? A Llano A8 crossfired with a 6670 gave pretty good performance for a budget gaming build. Will the 7750 be the go-to card for Trinity crossfire, or will they bump it up to the 7770, or even their mid range cards?

I love what AMD is doing with their APUs. I'm more excited about those chips, and their integration with the system as a whole, than anything regarding Piledriver, or even Ivy Bridge.

[citation][nom]hasten[/nom]I just wasted 3 minutes of my life looking at this. It's the same card. And calling 8w a significant drop is f'ing stupid. It's the same card as I owned 3 years ago, just renamed and slightly optimized. Don't try to sell it otherwise. I'm so sick of re-branding.[/citation]
But this one is as fast as GTX 460 1GB your old one was not.

I've got a Cougar RS 350w, Can i put an 7770 in this?
PC Spec:
AMd Athlon II X2 260 non-OC
Biostar TA880GB+
1x HDD 500gb WD
1x DVD-RW
1x Card Reader
3x 80mm Fan's
HD 5450 Oc 800Mhz Core 900mhz Memory...

Can I put one 7750 or 7770?

Really, I don't think the launch pricing is bad for these cards. The differences in power consumption are significant enough that one could easily save $5-$10 per year in electricity compared to similar-performing cards. The lower power consumption should also allow for less-expensive silent and near-silent cooling solutions.

It doesn't make sense for a company to launch a new product at a price that forces an immediate price drop of their existing products, especially when they arguably already offer the best value in a given market segment. In the months to come, we're bound to see the price of these cards go down, and the smaller die size and lower power requirements will only help with that.

cannot they make a card like the 7950 that turns into a 7750 by using different software power profiles?

More like a 28W difference. 80W from 108W.

[citation][nom]atari 2600[/nom]The 78xx cards will be good but it will come down to price that will be the determining factor on if they will be great. The 7770/7750 is being held back from greatness just based on it's priced to high if it came to market at $130/$140 than it would have been great but at $160msrp it is hard to recommend these card over last gens 68xx series when the 6850 is now only$140 and a bit faster.[/citation]

Priced high enough to let the 6850s in the channel sell off.
No need to undercut their own cards when it's priced competitively with Nvidia (GTX460).

The card certainly has headroom for overclocking, specifically the memory which is the bottleneck. 128bit is very restrictive these days. Already seen some models hitting 1575Mhz (40% over stock) on the memory.

The 7770 will never OC faster than a 6850 not even close but it might just match the 6850 stock performance which is why the price of 7770 is fail and GTX 460 is End of Line it will be gone as soon as current stock is sold out.

Do people factor in the cost of electricity when purchasing a new cpu or gpu? Because unless you live in Alaska or Antarctica the current AMD cpus and Nvidia gpus use a lot more power then comparable performance Intel cpus and AMD gpus.

People might not think saving 10w at idle 24/7 means anything but for me in central Florida it is about $70-80 over 4 years.
240 w/day
7.2 kwh/month
86.4 kwh/year
345.6 kwh/4years *$0.13 kwh = $45 this is not including A/C costs

GTX 550 Ti at idle uses 10 watts more then 7750
GTX 550 Ti under load uses 50 watts more then 7750

When comparing competing items people need to factor in electricity costs over the products life to understand the true price.

[citation][nom]amythompson172[/nom]The 7770 is what im getting asap, maybe even SLI!http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B [...] B00782U10W[/citation]
Puh-leease! For that kind of money ($190 !) you could get a GTX 560, which mops the floor with the HD 7770. Have you even seen the benchmarks??

And it's not SLI, it's CrossFire!

hi there i don,t how can a old gtx 560 ti bet the new ati 7770 cox i got a ati 6870 n my mate has d 560ti n there like 5fps on same between us n on bf3 on 1920x1080 on ultra high with no aa4 i,m get 60fps n with it on 35 that with hbao on as well so how can the 560ti with it run in 1920x1080 with aa4 x4 n hbao still get over 45fps when nvidia last up date there drive in oct 24-10-11 n my mate keep check for new drive to his 560ti so he can turn on hbao

it's more expensive than some 6870's. wow, AMD you need to fix the price. people don't want to pay more for less. How can Tom's even "recommend" this? Best bang for the buck is 6870's at $150. Get 2 6870's in crossfire, and you got 7970 performance for $250 less.

dude i love my ati 6870 it kicking assn my mate here to nite n i show what fps i get with bf3 on ultra high n his lip drop to d floor we got the same pc just i got a 6870 n he got d 560ti n i,m killing him in fps n my 6870 is cheap that his 560ti

[citation][nom]malmental[/nom]unimpressive...[/citation]
Ya right unimpressive that Radeons new low end has just reached the performance and price of Nvidia GTX 460 mid range and did it using half the power TDP of the GTX 460 yup real lackluster.

HD 7770, it should be better than that by now....
power consumption not included, strictly performance comment, not worth the price.
