Latest rumor points to 18th June For 380X and below (all of them probably will be rebrand of current R 200 series) and june 24th for 390X and 390. Some others suggesting during E3 (which is unusual for hardware launch) or at computex. Either way it won't be long now.

So it seems that 390X/390 will be limited to 4GB VRAM? And to me it seems AMD try to say that it won't be a problem as long as they optimize VRAM usage. Probably can be done through drivers. Nvidia already did this in the past so i think it is not impossible for AMD. But it probably will be interesting what happen in DX12 or Vulcan based games where dev have more control over gpu resource. In BF4 for example the game end up using more VRAM in mantle than DX11 counter part.

Lol that's a good point. Btw i've heard something interesting. They said (speculation) 390X will be a rebrand of 290X. But this time with 8GB as standard config and probably will be tweak like 280X to optimze the power consumption further. Fiji will compete directly against titan in premium segement. Hence the suggested 850 price for the card.

If AMD just re-brands their cards, they might as well just kill themselves because they will then be known as the most lazy PC parts company in the world. I am still very excited to see what they bring to the table though! :)

Yeah, definitely. Won't be the "4K GAMING MACHINE" that PowerColour said it would be.

"I want faster, smaller, and far more efficient, and I know it is possible to do it, because other companies are doing just that.
Where's the excitement, AMD? Where's the enthusiasm that you used to inspire in your fan base? And most importantly, where are the improvements that you have been talking about for so many years?
Honestly, I can't take another cycle of letdowns. We have a whole new generation of gaming coming out and with it a reason to upgrade to something a little higher end, bit if they don't introduce something that is downright revolutionary over current products, something that is truly makes me want to plunk down some serious change on a high end rig, then I'm jumping ship. And I think even AMD has to admit that I gave them more than a fair chance. I mean we have been buds since the 90's, but it is starting to feel like one of those relationships with someone with a substance abuse problem: they keep saying they are going to better themselves, but instead they run up your electric bill and try to milk you for cash every time they sober up long enough to do something decent for themselves, like they deserve special attention for doing the things that everyone else on the block is already doing. I mean eventually you get fed up with it and kick em' to the curb, right?" - Someone, somewhere that I just saw

Hope the r9 390/390x has a lower TDP than the 290 and 290x.
And what do you think about the 390x? Do you think it will be stronger than the Titan x?

I wouldn't count on the 390/X having a lower TDP than the 290/X, because from those couple of pictures that we've seen of the new cooler shrouds, they are probably going to have an AIO cooler right from the start of AMD's reference cards, which suggests a higher TDP than the previous cards. As for the 390X being stronger than the Titan X however, I am really not sure if AMD can pull off a better card than the Titan X that quickly, let alone not having to sell my house for it. I still am curious as to what they will bring to the table though. :)

That's why I'm waiting for AMD to release their new GPU's. I'm curious about that. I wanna know if they can make at least a better card than the gtx 980 with a lower price and a reasonable TDP like 230w or less. If they could do that, I would definitely buy that card.

Me too. As long as it's at a lower or at least competitive price, and has better performance than the 980 (or the 380X & 970 comparison), I would grab one. (And a reasonable TDP too)

Rumored MSRP for the 390x with 4 gigs of HBM is expected at 850$. Very close to the titan x. In that price, might as well get a titan x because of the driver support and the games that prefer nvidia cards. Not to mention 12 gigs of vram. But lower TDP is not coming with the 390x. Maybe slight tdp reduction in the rebrands..

I agree with you Bossyfins, but is that $850 USD? If so, that's absolutely ridiculous... it will cost ~$1045 CAD and with tax ~$1200... They better have one insanely amazing GPU for that much money. I won't be spending over $500 on my new one so my hopes and dreams of an awesome new AMD GPU just got murdered I guess lol. I'll wait to see but I assume I'll be getting a 970 after the AMD cards launch now.

Alienware

I'm not sure if this has been posted before but the lowest end Alienware Area 51 is now shipping with a R9 370 standard. This gaming PC isn't great deal at $1,899.99 but this is the first time I've seen a 300 series card listed for sale. I'm sure that's not the case for those of you who follow this stuff much more closely than I do.

Edit: It's listed at 4GB of DDR5 but you guys probably already knew that.
