Intel has totally raped our community of its money and polluted our water. Many want to get rid of it, as in a majority of those who are not employees, but 60% of the populace is in some way dependent on Intel for money. And on top of that, I swear our city rep's are bribed by Intel.

Just imagine if Intel packed up and left this crappy state. You would have virtually Zero tax revenue. Pretty much nothing at all.

And I would be more concerned with the fact that Intel is using all of your water, not polluting it.

Shame on you and shame on intel.

Actually, AMDzone seems to have fewer fanboys than Tom's does. Either that or the mods there weed out the flames. They are a few fanboys over there, but it seems more of a what-do-you-think-AMD-will-come-out-with-next site.

The benches say one thing- that a Pentium M is roughly equivalent clock-for-clock with an AMD chip, finishing better in a few more cases than not with a similarly-clocked AMD chip. That is not really news and why Conroe is expected to perform how it does- a little better than the "FX-62" in certain benchmarks, which were the only ones Intel wanted to show. (Duh.)

I bet when it gets benched fully by 3rd parties, we'll see that the 2.4GHz Conroe will be about equal to a current FX-60. The reason that Intel will have an advantage if its roadmap pans out is that 1. It can ship the chips at the prices it says and that's at ~50% less than AMD, and 2. It can ramp up clock speeds more than AMD, or at least as far as we can see at the present. With roughly similar IPC, more clocks = more performance.

New Mexico's government should really consider auditing Intel's factories to see what's really taking place. If anything d0nu7 said is true (and judging omerta's statements), then Intel is playing really dirty as they always do.

Shame on you Intel. :x

I am not sure what you are "judging" from my statements. Intel is not polluting any more than AMD, IBM, TSMC, Chartered, Motorola, National Semiconductor, Micron......etc..... are polluting. They certainly are not "raping their community". As JumpingJack mentioned, Intel has been recognized as a wonderful corporate citizen.

I am WAY more worried about what is going on inside Sandia Labs and Los Alamos labs. Who knows what kind of freaky stuff is going on in and around those places. Everybody knows what happens at Intel and what chemicals are used, how they are disposed of, etc...

I gave the ONLY real argument for Intel not to build in Albuquerque. It is because they use 3 million gallons of water per day. Just like AMD, IBM, TSMC, ..........

I live in Aloha Oregon, next to many factories of Intel, they have Open house all the time and the Oregonian Newspaper has many time written articles that Intel is the cleanest manufacture. They properly incenerate any pulutant. About the water, they refind it before it leaves their factory. There haven't been any reports of babies being born with 3 limbs or 5 eyes if you get my drift. Accusing a company like Intel without facts constitute you a Noob! 😛 Shame on you for being a total idiot!

Shame for you for covering Intel's @ss.

The guy posted his facts and those are true facts. I'd like him to take some pictures of any evidence so that we can send these to the government of new Mexico for them to make an audit on a nasty company like Intel. This evidence and AMD's subpoena will finish put the nail on Intel's coffin.

Trusted Reviews has an interesting little article going on about AMD's upcoming plans
Just like I said in your other thread just posted 9, AMD will have no chip shortages, hell yeah

Yeah you can be sure they wont have any chip shortages at all. For that matter, they are likely to have warehouses full of 'em when everyone runs back to buying intel here in a few months.

That price list they posted is really sad. Intel's $500 chip will likely outperform AMD's $1200 chip by a significant margin when its available - possibly as soon as July. Sad really.

I guess the AM2 release is AMD's final attempt to put the sausage to their army of fanboys before they are forced to slash prices to compete with conroe. At that time they will likely give this segment of the market back to iintel and put the majority of their focus on the server market where they actually have a much higher chance of success in the coming quarters.

I'll tell you what, go out and ask people who have PCs if they know what AM2 or Conroe are. Probably very few, so if Intel has enough P4/PDs left then Dell has to decide what to sell in July. Peple who know wont buy or recommend any P4/PDs so Intel basically shot themselves in the foot and AMD would be fools to lower their prices.

They still have something worth what they are charging no matter what Intel has. And remember if DDR2 gets faster latencies by June, enthusiasts wll buy it no matter the cost. If AM2 features OC improvements AMD can take advantage of the higher bandwith and still be on par with Conroe, which won't be out in volume until at Aug-Sep.

As I always say don't count MAD out.

That guy posted "facts", "true facts"? He said Intel has 12 factories in New Mexico. That is not fact. He also said Intel is polluting the water and raping the community of their money. That is not fact, not true facts. It's mostly an opinion, Like that I think New Mexico is a crappy state.

I love your idea of facts. lol!

There has been some opposition to Intel, by people from NM. If you care to read thier side of the story
I dont know if those are people with an axe to grind (other than because Intel is killing them of course), or if they are on the level. They do make it sound like a typical case of money talks.

It's probably just a few local radicals, trying to stir things up.
All the same, NM doesn't seem like the type of place that can have that kind of fluid removed from it's aquafer.
I'm sure that airborn particulate from further west is already a concern, without producing more locally as well.
What bugs me the most, is that most industies have found that efficient scrubbers can be a good revenue source. Generally, "Doing the right thing" has benefits that outway the cost. Sometimes people are just a tad blind though.
Oregon seems better suited to Fab needs. I guess that Intel just finds it easier to get money from NM.

They didn't show it because unlike other companies *hint hint*, they don't announce everytime they go to the bathroom.

I don’t think AMD would be that dumb. Remember we are in the real world where the marketing gurus rule and we engineers do what we are told.

AMD has alot of money to spend. I'm sure it's going to good use and it is enough to tide them over to the next generation. Unfortunately K8L is not it.

How the hell do you know??

we have at best two facts about that architecture, it will be dual core and 65um.

And those are the least telling facts of all.
Lets wait to see more of this chip in a real system before you make daft judgments like that.

I don't really care about the hype myself. What I would care about is a chip that could perform near a FX62 level for half the cost. I have been using AMD for about 7 years now but it is all about price/performance for me. Time will tell.

@stOrmy
Totally agree with you. In the end it all comes down to who offers the best performance for the least $$$.

To be honest though I’ve gotta admit that I hope that AM2 performs comparably well as compared to a Conroe for the sake of a price war which will benefit us all.

I think it’s too early to call shots. My main hopes are that they (both of them) come out with good performers that generate less heat than a small star and are priced competitively. :)

I thought that I was surprised by Intels marketing claim……… that was till the AMD fanboy nay-sayers started their ranting. Don’t know which is worse. 🙁

Please, don’t always believe everything you read one way or another. I can take any topic and argue for one side or the other. The key is to choose facts that support what you are saying even if it is not 100% correct. I’m personally going to wait until the CPU’s have been released before I pass judgment on either AMD or Intel. Remember, it is not only the processor but the system as a whole that needs to be looked at when the time comes. I know this for sure, I will not buy a new processor simply because it says AMD or Intel on the chip. If the Intel does perform better or even ties the current offerings from AMD it is defiantly worth looking at especially if the price is as low as rumored. If nothing else it gives us more options for processors that may even bring AMD pricing down somewhat.

not sure, but remember the actual wars are pure power for intel, and leveled for AMD
in the future there will be wars for best cpu performance for best effectiveness of the parts, Ie, less disipation.

Im still wondering if it will be true when they release that 65mm 35Watt dual core 5000+ chip 😵

and dude, everything who acts against the flow can be acused of 1.- intolerant 2.- angry fanboy 3.- traitor
see those who found the huge irregularities of bush's administration and leaks, corruption..etc..
they all at first were atackd and got banged their credibility.
yet they managed to float and show what where the truth is..

problem is, the bigger the company or person's power affected by the guy who reveals the new information.. the more the bigger company will try to sunk that person.. not only by sending fanboys, but triying to do other things, briving..etc..

as for now, we're in step one for that guy, angry fanboys atacking him
Id say it is still too suspicius that anandtech didnt noticed all the ammount of irregularities in the tests maded BY intel and SPONSORED BY intel, and BUILD by intel, using DRIVERS COMPILED FOR INTEL's conroe on both machines.
Im still wondering why that many consecutive years intel refused to fight a equal to equal with AMD in performance. why always intel tried to make the fights be in the company's personal ways (doing buts.. "or we do our way or we dont do it" like of shit ).. that makes it even more suspicius.
