the only thing i have ever agreed with jennyh is that Voyager is the best of the new Star Treks. Captain Janeway would kick both Picard and Sisco's asses.

But you dont get my point..

Intels integrated video chipset is a great feature for little extra cost which will run all business apps, low specification games and photographic editing software. Intel has never marketted it as a gaming card. What it is good at is power consumption at a whole and makes a better laptop chipset for that.

AMD / ATI appart from the graphic side has never really made a good low power consumption chipset for the mobile platform.

This is where Intel superseeds AMD no matter what you say for power consumption which means more to the business user.

Your opinion on your priority of playing quake 3 maxed out on a train is considerably of low importance which fits in the nice feature range.

Intels IGP is up to DVD but not quite Blueray playback.

Im know that Intel are working on this to adjust the balance, If I was Intel I would be set on knocking out the competition which it almost does on all levels. All because a lion eats a antelope doesnt mean it right. Its all about survival of the fittest. Of course there will be other antelopes but no antelope should mess with a lion with out getting bloody.

FACT - Intel makes the better chipsets - period, AMD makes better IGPs - period - but for how long.

remember AMD bought this technology when they took over ATI. AMD own chipsets were rubbish. Early ATI chipsets were rubbish.
AMD put ATIs video technology into a igp and got some where. Intel have never really made a decent video card until LRB.

But remember this Jenny - more intel igps are sold than any other video card so work that one out.

Also remember that laptops were never designed with games in mind in the first place, nor were pcs for that matter.

Everyone, don't kill me but I use an Intel IGP because, performance isn't important to me, its the battery life and power consumption. (Yes, I did get an Atom)

Now you know we need Chickadee here as Intel fanbois so she'll proclaim Intel's IGP outclass AMD's flagship HD 4890...

Would you class me as a Intel fanboi..

All I want is energy efficiency over anything else - this is why core 2 duo was so much better than its predecessor

LOL - well during the first 7 seasons, just about every alien planet SG-1 visited would have a bevy of women who would fulfill Hellboy's ideal of the female physique 😀. Usually scantily clad to boot. Well, maybe not the Nox planet - but that's the exception that makes the rule 😀

DS-9 only had Jadzia Dax, IIRC. Major Kira was cute, but was built more like Major Carter on SG-1. Hmm, wonder if there's a connection there ?? Obviously the silicone budget at Paramount Studios was severely constrained :)

The first 3 seasons of Voyager were pretty poor, IMO, although I enjoyed Picardo's EMH - emergency medical hologram - character, because of his sarcastic wit 😀. But after seeing the episode where Janeway & Paris devolve into some frog-like creatures, croaking forlornly in a swamp, I stopped watching for a while :).

The last 2 seasons were good, where they managed to communicate with Starfleet and had to fight off the Borg. But 2 outta 7 is not a good entertainment ratio, when the other Trek series managed better. However I will grant you that the series conclusion was better in Voyager than in TNG :).

IIRC TNG was the last series where they actually used ship models and specially-built camera platforms to follow a programmed path several times, for lighting & other effects. I think Voyager & DS-9 were all CG effects, but I could be wrong.

"Cattlecar Bonanza" - LOL! At least Lorne Greene didn't ride a horse & carry a 6-shooter 😀. I wonder if Starbucks got its name from Lt. Starbuck?

"Q" was supposed to tie the beginning & end of TNG together, and although I like de Lancie as an actor, I hafta agree the character was a bit farfetched - too much suspension of disbelief required. His occasional appearances in some comedic episodes were funny - the one where the crew was suddenly placed Sherwood Forest as Robin Hood et al, comes to mind, with Troi accidently shooting Data with an arrow & Worf not wanting to be a Merry Man :).

Hmmm... funny... we watched Blu-ray all last week on my friend's G45 system. With 7.1 LPCM audio, in fact. Looked good to me. 'Course, I wouldn't try to play Crysis on the thing, but that's not what he bought it for.

That's true. The G43 and under do lean heavily on the processor because they don't have HW acceleration. But still didn't have a problem decoding in software with an E6700.

DBZ itself was good for its time but newer shows outclass it by far. Trigun, Coboy Bebop, Gundamn Wing (Especially Endless Waltz WING 0 FTW!!!). In preference, I like Naruto much more because it has a story, great fighting scenes and Kakashi just kicks ass (and I mean the Japanese ones with English subs).

And SG-1 was never the same without McGyver. Even his son didn't count.

I loved the plot behind DS9. Can't say I am truly sure what happened to Cisco at the end.

As for VOY, the randomness makes sense if you are stranded and trying to get home. They had one good story arc, where they went into the space of the waring worlds and ended up f**ed due to time rifts. Then of course Janeway just rams the ship into the main guy and resets time itself.

And the Borg make sense since thats their main part of the galaxy they "assimalate" in. They just want to expand and make friends.

Janeway would rip her clothes off, if we mean original Kirk. He had a way to charm the ladies. plus he kicked so much ass.

With a i7 laptop? hell yea I would choose the AMD one. I think the companies doing the i7 laptops with the desktop chips are just idiots. Can't really keep it unplugged very long. I would rather wait for the true nehalem based laptop CPU.

Desktop, I don't care how much power it takes as long as my house dowsn't lose power when I turn it on.

I agree. I say 7 of 9. Woot for Jeri Ryan.

never needed to use a G45.
Its a shame they havent done a version of this for laptops yet.

Anyway when you get to that sort of board I would always us a separate graphic card.
