Question Aorus B450 Pro with Ryzen 5 3600

Hey, so I was just wondering if I really need to update the BIOS on the motherboard with older CPU (Ryzen 1st or 2nd gen) before installing the R5 3600, since it says in the Gigabyte site that the motherboard is Ryzen 3rd gen Desktop ready.

The website does not stipulate that the board is out of the box ready, simply that the CPU is compatible. However you still need BIOS F40 in order to take the 3600. If the box you bought the mother states "3000 ready" then you do not need to update the BIOS, as this means that they have updated the BIOS prior to selling.

Once you have at least BIOS F40 installed, you can install the 3600.

I take it this is a board you are looking at buying? Looking at the CPU support section for that motherboard, yes you may need to update it:

The Ryzen 3600 is only supported on the latest bios version "F40". Later boards may have already been updated to this but if the board has been on the shelf for a while there is no guarantee it will work.

That said, most decent computer shops will update this for you before shipping it if you ask them to with the order.
