I took the literal interpretation of this contest - take components, put them together, and let 'er rip. It's like Plug-n-Play, but faster -- this system flies! Hence, PnF -- Plug-n-Fly. All of my components are designed to be the FASTEST system without overclocking, overvolting, or otherwise compromising any of the individual warranties on any of the products. The option is still THERE, but not needed.

Low CAS/latency timings on the Quad channel ram (designed for to take advantage of the board), the crossfiring of the 6950 cards beats out any higher end single card, and of course THE fastest processor available! Keep it cool with a quiet, super-efficient noctua NH-D14 cooler, and the PCI-Express SSD will have this system up and running before you even know what to do! Throw in a beautiful Corsair Case, modular power supply to keep unnecessary cables out of the cooling situation, and an ASUS DVDRW drive to burn/install whatever media you can't download off the internet, you've got a great system that will keep you happy for YEARS to come. Or, well, until you feel the need to upgrade again - but it won't be because your system was slow!

Edited to show total price.

System Design Ideas:

1) Speed, speed and more speed.

Starting off with a blistering fast 6 core (12 logical) Sandy Bridge E CPU, complimented by a very well designed and feature rich platform, the Asus X79 Deluxe, paired up with 16GB of DDR3 with a out of the box 2133 Mhz potential, liquid cooling on the CPU, a Corsair Force GT SSD drive, and to top it off a Asus GTX 590. All of this together makes for an insanely fast rig out of the box able to play anything you can throw at it, with a very high amount of overclocking headroom in the CPU/Memory. Although I would refrain from overclocking the GTX 590, or doing so with great care, although let’s be honest, it doesn’t need to be overclocked :) .

2) Simple to build and setup.

Case is really well thought out, very nice air flow while not being loud. CPU Cooler, is a self contained liquid cooling system, which I love the design of it, the fact that it cools extremely well and is a very simply and elegant design.

3) Upgradability.

A just released platform, LGA 2011 Socket, so lots of upgrade potential down the road, plenty of PCI-Express 3.0 ready slots ready to go, and enough SATA ports left over to add some additional SSD's for Hard Drive's for media storage.

The full-featured ASUS P9X79 supports the new Intel Core i7-3930K, a six-core processor that also happens to be one of the fastest processors money can buy. One of the key features of the ASUS P9X79 is quad-channel memory support, and the G.Skill Ripjaws (16 GB) utilize it while performing at an exceptionally fast 2133 MHz and CAS 9 latency. The ASUS P9X79 also supports 3x CrossFireX at 16x and 8x PCI-e 3.0 lane bandwidths, allowing three powerful ASUS EAH6950 2 GB cards to fully flex their muscles. And because AMD has made it very easy to unlock 6970 clocks and shaders on their 6950 series cards, a simple bios flash can vastly improve your graphics performance across all three cards.

The Samsung Spinpoint F3 is one of the fastest traditional HDDs on the market today. Two of these in RAID 0 offer phenomenal performance and excellent storage capabilities. Because none of us can fit all of the games and programs that we access every day on a small SSD, it is important to have fast storage drives if total speed is the name of this build. For even better performance, you can install Windows 7 and some of your most-accessed games and programs on the OCZ Vertex 3 Series MAX IOPS Edition 240 GB SSD -- arguably the fastest SSD available.

The large and rugged HAF 932 has been shown to consistently outperform every other case on the market in cooling, allowing you to maintain higher overclocks on your already highly-clocked and powerful components. But that should come as no surprise, as the bottom-mounted PSU, forgone air filters, and giant 230 mm (x3) and 140 mm (x1) fans all work together to reduce heat and push a lot of air. In addition, this "Advanced" version of the HAF 932 provides access to two USB 3.0 ports in the front, allowing you to make the most of your high-speed USB 3.0 devices. The roomy interior also allows you to hold the largest cards and the biggest storage arrays, perfect for this high-end build.

The Antec TruePower Quattro is a monster of a modular power supply, capable of dishing out 1200W of power to your multiple cards, storage devices, and heavily-overclocked components. Maintaining a high overclock on your Core i7-3930K is both easy and safe with the Corsair H100 Liquid CPU Cooler, one of the best liquid coolers on the market. Finally, the ASUS 24X DVD Burner burns discs at the fastest speed available for any DVD burner, and is a Customer Choice Award Winner on Newegg for its speed and reliability.

also the rules don't say a cooler or dvd burner, but the format does... Its not as clear as I'd like it to be.

I had to flip a coin to decide to use the Antec P280 or the Corsair 500R. I rounded to the nearest $1 again, and this week I was able to include a HD without [strike]cheating [/strike]including a HD I have at home.

These building projects are sure fun! I'm going to try again after failing to put my last entry on the contest page lol. 3k to play with is nice and makes it easier to use parts I would like to use.
