Not sure if this is the right forum for this question - but it's my best guess.

I have been trying to set-up a good and systematic back-up process for some time. My big question is, can I turn off my computer and have it turn itself on for a backup and turn itself off after a backup. I dont want to leave the computer running 24x7 so that it can backup at night. My PDA is able to do this so I was guessing my computer could somehow do it.

Also what do the options "Wake on Lan" mean? I guess it means that when a command from a lan comes in the computer wakes from hybernation (kind of what I am looking for). How does this work?

Thanks for the help guys!

Check in the bios and see if there is anything.
Only other thing I can think of is to have your computer go into hibernation, and have the backup software set to run at a certain time which would/should wake the computer up.
I just do backups when I am working at the computer.
