We do not exactly have spears to protect ourselves with in todays society and bows and arrows are another thing no one goes around with. Guns are the only normal concept we are really discussing here meaning rifles, guns and other weapons that kill human beings and animals.

So we are talking about bows and arrows too?

If it helps the people overthrow a tyrannical, it is included.

"Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest." — Mahatma Gandhi
See this is why Piers Morgan should be deported. Those Brits have used gun control to suppress millions in MANY nations.

It may be inaccurate, however, to depict the conflict as one sided and mainly perpetrated by Europeans on Indigenous Australians. Although many more died than Europeans, some cases of mass killing were not massacres but military defeats, and this may have had more to do with the technological and logistic advantages enjoyed by Europeans.[23] Indigenous tactics varied, but were mainly based on pre-existing hunting and fighting practices—utilising spears, clubs and other primitive weapons. Unlike the indigenous peoples of New Zealand and North America, on the main they failed to adapt to meet the challenge of the Europeans, and although there were some instances of individuals and groups acquiring and using firearms, this was not widespread.[24] In reality the Indigenous peoples were never a serious military threat, regardless of how much the settlers may have feared them.[25] On occasions large groups attacked Europeans in open terrain and a conventional battle ensued, during which the Aborigines would attempt to use superior numbers to their advantage. This could sometimes be effective, with reports of them advancing in crescent formation in an attempt to outflank and surround their opponents, waiting out the first volley of shots and then hurling their spears whilst the settlers reloaded. Usually however such open warfare proved more costly for the Indigenous Australians than the Europeans.[26]

Central to the success of the Europeans was the use of firearms, however the advantages this afforded have often been overstated. Prior to the 19th century, firearms were often cumbersome muzzle-loading, smooth-bore, single shot weapons with flint-lock mechanisms. Such weapons produced a low rate of fire, whilst suffering from a high rate of failure and were only accurate within 50 metres (160 ft). These deficiencies may have given the Aborigines some advantages, allowing them to move in close and engage with spears or war clubs. However by 1850 significant advances in firearms gave the Europeans a distinct advantage, with the six-shot Colt revolver, the Snider single shot breech-loading rifle and later the Martini-Henry rifle as well as rapid-fire rifles such as the Winchester rifle, becoming available. These weapons, when used on open ground and combined with the superior mobility provided by horses to surround and engage groups of Indigenous Australians, often proved successful. The Europeans also had to adapt their tactics to fight their fast-moving, often hidden enemies. Strategies employed included night-time surprise attacks, and positioning forces to drive the Aborigines off cliffs or force them to retreat into rivers while attacking from both banks.[27]

That is a good policy you have in your country. This is a idiotic conspiracy going around the government is going to take away your guns complete nonsense.

What hasnt been expessed due to the zealot approach is the exact opposite.
Having an army is good, and having support is even better.
No one considered war after WWI, yet along came the Nazis.
No one today considers war possible on American soil, well again, history proves them wrong.
All thruout history this has happened, and formed militias have been asked to either serve abroad or at home in times of danger.
All countries where guns are gone will have the duty to train their civilians from scratch during these times, and Im so glad these people think todays world is so safe

It is not a conspiracy theory. The theory behind it is obviously with the British and the Americas. The melting pot of cultures in America felt that the British government was overstepping their authority and taking away rights while they were doing so. Thus, the revolutionary war happened. Regular citizens with guns met the Redcoats at Lexington and Concord starting many battles of regular soldiers vs. armed citizens. Now it was key that regular citizens were armed, OR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WOULD NEVER BE FORMED. THAT IS THE THEORY.

Present day:
This theory can be applied with today's government. Now, it is somehow constitutional for the government to force someone to buy something, fight wars in distant lands and be a world moderator. The government is overstepping their authority and taking away rights much like the Brits were back then. THE CONSTITUTION IS NOT OUTDATED BUT MORE APPLICABLE THEN EVER.

The vibes sent by the government when they are doing all of these unconstitutional things, taking away people's rights, and overstepping their authority, is that they are banning certain weapons and suppressing our constitutional right to bear arms so they can continue this spree of unconstitutional doings without any real check on the government. The government in reality has 2 parties the statists and neo-statists (both parties have expanded the government exponentially) . So the problem with voting to take out bad political officials is that the system is overrun by 1 type of political thought. The libertarians and constitutionalists stand no chance because of the lobbyists and big contributions by Wall Street and big business.

“It's so cold here in Washington, D.C., that politicians have their hands in their own pockets.”

“No one party can fool all of the people all of the time; that's why we have two parties.”

“Congress may be going home for the holidays soon. How can you beat a Christmas gift like that?”

Bob Hope knew, why dont we?

Oh God are you serious about deporting Piers Morgan? I guess the second amendment trumps the first..... Especially when you have a funny accent.

You wont be overthrowing a tyrannical government with the military we have. If anything the military would be the ones to defend us from such a threat, the best defense against a crazy military is raising your kids not to be the type of psychopath that would gun down civilians on orders.

Anyone notice the update on the shooting?

The AR-15 was found in the trunk of the vehicle.

He used 4 handguns. I thought it was kind of odd that someone would use a rifle in close quarters anyhow.

The only time he used a handgun was to kill himself. I would be curious to see your source since I cant find it.

Edit: The image I uploaded for my avatar finally went through....24 days later. I lol'd

I was kidding about Piers Morgan. That was a long time ago obviously.

I don't have access to the newly updated articles.

He used 4 hand guns in the school. The AR-15 and the Saiga shotgun were recovered from the trunk of his car.

Info was released late on Saturday, doesn't seem like a lot of news organizations are picking it up and reporting on it. The video was released from the police showing them removing both firearms too.

Treatment of the Australian Aborigines by the British colonialists was poorly documented, so getting to the truth of the matter was / is difficult, and reliant on a combination of oral history from a number of sources.

The Australian Aborigines were never a fighting force comparable to the Mauri people in their enrironment ... sadly. The Mauris kicked the colonialists in most battles in a jungle environment ... which we lack. Treaties are still in place today as a consequence.

The terrain here, and lack of indigenous carnivours meant that the tactics and weapons the people used were not suited to defence against a small force with superior weapons. Our terrain is more open, and the bush often poor cover.

I imagine there were significant advantages at night, or in areas where the terrain was less open, but the advantages of horses and weapons meant the aborigines were at a distinct disadvantage.

Moreover, culturally Aboriginal society is much more egalitarian that other comparable polynesian societies, therefore no specific leadership, strategy, social organisation etc resulted ... against the colonists (invaders).

These people are predominantly hunter gatherers, with a rich oral history, who managed to live in one of the world's most unhospitable places.

Parts of our land are very tough in terms of temperature, native fauna (spiders and snakes) and flora (carrots don't grow on the side of the road) plus water is difficult to find unless you know where how.

Look up the infamous "Battle of Pinjarra" to see how history warped what was essentially a massacre. Only in the last 15 or so years have our history texts being rewritten to acknowledge what really happened.

Allowing the truth to see the light of the day at least is a step in the right direction.

As a child I was lucky to be able to spend some time with a tribal elder from the Pitjantjatjara group North of Port Augusta ... learning some of their history with his two grandsons (my neighbours) as a teenager.

These people are the supreme survivalists in an arid land, and fantastic story tellers.

They are not soldiers.

Rey, youve just explained the difference between the US and most other countries.
"The terrain here, and lack of indigenous carnivours meant that the tactics and weapons the people used were not suited to defence against a small force with superior weapons. Our terrain is more open, and the bush often poor cover. "

Now, as you said, the Mauris were a different people with differing terrain.
We have several mountain ranges, forests abound, hills, rivers, snow, desert etc etc.
Animals abound here, not so elsewheres, where most animals have been driven out and are extinct in their natural environs.

Add this together, that with an aggressive, much more so against us, of a colonial Brit government, knowing this countries wealth and scope.
The people here werent just farmers, as our heroes tend to be legendary hunter types, not farmers.
Its in our very being, who and what we are, and why.

Not until 1854 were volunteer corps and militia again formed in the Australian colonies, but news of war between Britain and Russia in the Crimea led to the establishment of volunteer corps in some colonies and the formation of informal rifle clubs in others. When the Crimean War ended in 1856 volunteer units faded, to be revived in 1859 when it appeared that Napoleon III was preparing to invade England. By early 1860 most suburbs and towns in Australia supported a volunteer unit, usually a rifle corps.

Although much of the military training undertaken by volunteers in the colonies was aimed at meeting external threats, European settlement was accompanied by a protracted and undeclared war against Australia's Indigenous inhabitants. Fighting was localised and sporadic, following the frontiers of European settlement across the continent and continuing in remote areas of central and Western Australia until the 1930s. British soldiers (as distinct from armed police and civilians) became involved only rarely, notably during the period of martial law in Tasmania between 1828 and 1832, and in New South Wales in the mid-1820s and late 1830s. Military authorities did not usually regard Aborigines as posing sufficient threat to warrant the expense of committing military forces to pursue them, and most of the fighting was conducted by the settlers, assisted by police.

Now multiply this many fold, as the numbers of nations of native peoples varied as much as the land does here.
Theres very little for an outback here, and where man isnt, nature is in full bloom, and where many a hunt is taken in today, alot of mountain hunting
