Hello, I am needing to set up a server. I haven't the slightest idea what and how.
We have one central location and two other offices. Not all of our computers are on the same OSI.
Where do I begin?

are you trying to setup a Domain server so that everybody needs to log in to the network (more secure)?

what Operating Systems and Versions do the computers have?

do the other offices need access to the server? if so look into VPN to connect between the office and central.

You can't just state you want to setup up a server, a server for what? They have many functions they can do. First get your specs together then work on how to configure it.

I'd hire someone to work with then. If you never have set one up, who is going to support it when issues happen? Figuring out problems is usually much harder than just putting in a setup disk and clicking "Next". The company is willing to have someone configure a server who has never done it before? Bit dangerous to do that unless it's something that is not really used for a business need.
