[SOLVED] Best cpu for gaming to pair with 2080ti?

getting a 2080ti and currently have a Ryzen 1700x and was wondering what the best cpu for gaming paired with this gpu would be?

In your case if you don't want to get new motherboard you can upgrade to the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X, but for the intel if you swap motherboard i can tell you from my experience in reading many things and review and as you can see from the benchmarks i think here the I7-8700K will get the work done and it is overclockable if you want to try boosting the core speed you have the chance.
For me this is best cpu for price-permormance ratio. You won't be wrong if u go with it.

2700X would be a little better than your 1700x. But your CPU should do pretty well paired with it.

yeah was debating to switch to intel, heard a lot about the 9900k but is it worth it? and also i suppose amd are bringing out their new series mid year too.

I'd definitely wait to see what is going to happen with the Ryzen 3600-3800 instead of bothering with the relatively tiny increment (~15%) between 1700X and 2700X.

I will recommend you to wait for Ryzen 3rd gen as the only option to upgrade now is ryzen 7 2700 or 2700x (if you don't want to change your MOBO) and it has just a little bit more performance then your current CPU. Also your current CPU is good to go with RTX2080ti.
Rumors saying that Ryzen 7 will come with 12 core and 24 threads, also AMD also introducing Ryzen 9 with 16 cores and 32 thread, so its really worth to wait for it.

if u want FULL performance then 8700k 9700k and 9900k will do. There WILL be differences even though people say the 2700x, or even ur 1700x is good to go. If u got a 2080Ti already like me (congrats for sticking with Nvidia) then u might as well get the most out of it.
