Question BIOS update advice

When I got my computer a few years ago, it was a prebuilt system from PCSpecialist.

I've been trying to update the BIOS for my Gigabyte B550 Gaming X V2 (Rev. 1.1), but every time I download the correct BIOS version for my revision and put it on a properly formatted USB drive, I get an OEMID mismatch error.

I've tried multiple USB sticks, different BIOS versions for the same model and revision, but the issue persists. Additionally, Q-Flash Plus doesn't show any signs of life when pressed.

I'm wondering if PCSpecialist might have installed a custom BIOS that requires a specific update, or if there's a problem with my motherboard.

This is my first time updating a BIOS, so any help or advice would be greatly appreciated or even just knowledge on what's going on...

Is this custom builder (w/e) still in business? Probably a good idea to ask them if so.

Are you 110% sure that everything you purchased from them was either new, or meant to be a "custom" build, or that they took the guts out of a prebuild and put it into a different case?

I have run into situations from time to time where I would get hands on a system with a regular looking motherboard, screen printed model number and so on and have exactly the issue you describe. Further investigation revealed that the mobo was actually out of a prebuilt system. In that case you have to find out who and see if they even have a BIOS revision for it.
