I had a gtx 970 and it worked like a charm with no issues but I wanted to get into higher frame rates so I got the amd 5600 xt and when I installed it I started up my computer perfectly but all I got was a black screen. I didn’t like that so I put in my old gpu and everything was secured but yet again all I received was a black screen.

I clearee the cmos by pulling the battery out but I’m still having problems, is this a motherboard issue?
The GPUs work, fans spin, everything looks good but still just black screen.

PSU: Corsair RM 750x
Ram: 16G fury hyperx

GPU: Sapphire AMD 5600 XT
CPU: i7 5820k

Motherboard: MSI X99A SLI plus
All the lights are on, fans are spinning, good parts no dust or visible damage.

I’ve tried different GPU slots, different display and hdmi ports, I even took the new gpu to a friends house and it worked easily there.

One thing I may have done wrong was try to yank out the old gpu (970) cause I didn’t see there was another screw I had to loosen before it could. Do you think me pulling on the GPU could’ve damaged the motherboard or something?

If you tried different slots can you try to look up how to reset your CMOS for your motherboard? black screen could mean everything is working but your mobo (bad) settings are telling it to output video to some other component.
- Try CMOS reset on motherboard
