[SOLVED] C: Drive filling up while in game and I don't think it's the page file

Hi, I yesterday while playing a game it told me it failed to create a save, so further investigating I realized my C: Drive, which has exactly 40GB, now only had 80MB!!

I unfortunately haven't had much time to test this, but I have found out:

-Resetting my PC "empties " this phantom data.

-I'm quite certain it is not the page file as, firstly it was 40GB to begin with, but secondly that I manually set the page file to just 5GB to see if the problem continued, and it has.

-It's only has happened while in game, I will soon try to test another game, but I have only tested it in the game I was playing when I realized it was happening, which is Crusader Kings 3.

I plan to run some drive analyzer, and try another game, when I get the chance, but I was just hoping that someone may have some idea what's causing this.

Thanks

Your plan is the exact thing you should do next.
It seems I've figured it out, I apologize for posting prematurely, however as I said, drive managements always drives me crazy... no pun intended.

Turns out the game is writing tens of GBs of errors in a log in my documents, seems to be a conflict after a new update, which I'll manage somehow. Thanks for the reassurance in my process at least. 😋

No worries, you had a question and the right idea how to look at it. All sorts of things can cause that, so I didn't want you chasing down wild guesses.

Oof, this the 1.7 update that just hit? Still a few updates back (trying to finish a campaign).

But yeah, report that one to the devs, if it hasn't already. Even if the logging is correct, writing on the order of GBs is a bit excessive.

It was immediately after the update yeah, however it a was mod that hadn't updated, was spitting out errors. Found it and disabled, alls good now!
