Hello,

One of my sata port in the motherboard was damaged. I accidentally pull off the sata slut that resulted to the detachment of the said spare.

My question is that, can those pins cause short circuit when it will have contact to one another?

Yes. Whenever the pins touch one another, a short circuit is guaranteed, even if it is too small to detect. If can, however, severely damage the rest of the motherboard as well as the components on it. I would recommend taking the motherboard to a dealer to have it fixed/replaced.

Also, LOL @ "sata slut".

As long as the prongs don't touch you should be fine (for good measure when this happened to me (and i looked at this very thread) i just fanned out and cut the prongs) my machine works fine. My mobo was an asus a5 m97 r2.0 but it should be fine across all mobo's
