Hello all,

Recently I have taken up a new job where I need an ubuntu build. I have a spare SSD that I want to use for the ubuntu system that isnt currently plugged into my mobo. I was wondering what would happen if I disconnected my RAID 0 drives, and my main windows 10 OS drive, so that I can plug in my spare SSD and install ubuntu? After I installed ubuntu I was planning on leaving the drive connected and plugging everything back in where it belongs, so that I can go to my bios boot menu and switch back and forth between windows 10 and ubuntu when I want. Would this be a good ideal or no?

Yes, that would probably work.

But RAID 0 is rarely a 'good idea' in any consumer realm.
And I sincerely hope you have a good backup of that data.
This raid drive is my gaming drive. Nothing important on it that I can’t get back when I have to replace the drives. So it might possibly be okay, and as far as you know it might not effect anything?

Edit: thank you for giving me the courage to do this! It worked, but I think my mono Uefi has a bug. It shows Ubuntu is installed on my NVMe when it is installed on the SSD as a standalone.
