[SOLVED] Can i extend my laptop to a 240 hz or 144hz display

It is possible for 120, maybe 144Hz with an active Hdmi to DP adapter and also possible with straight Hdmi depending on monitor. You won't get more than 144Hz though, for this need Displayport as the source.


See section 3.4 regarding adapter and see section 7 for known 120/144Hz monitors over Hdmi.

Go for a Hdmi monitor i reckon and put money saved from an adapter towards it.

Forgot to mention if your laptop has usbc/thunderbolt it is possible to use that instead.

If laptop has one of these ports, check manual to determine if it can transmit video as this feature is not available on all laptops. If it can transmit video you can get a usbc/thunderbolt to displayport cable and get the full benefit of displayport. See section 3.4.3 in the display guide.
