I have a 8 year old dell inspiron 620s. 2 months back its motherboard died (or maybe psu because it just won't boot, all fans and hard disk running).
So in case of motherboard replacement, can I use some other motherboard ?
Current- Dell 0gdg8y Intel H61
Want- An AMD motherboard or Zebronics Intel H61 form factor ATX.

Yes you can install it, I suggest you look for mid micro atx boards like this.
https://www.newegg.com/msi-b450-gaming-plus-max/p/N82E16813144264

Use a power supply that will fit into the case like this one.

Whenever you rebuild with retail computer cases, make note of where the led, hdd, pwr, reset cables go on mobo's.
This can lead to a successfull rebuild and a failure rebuild if its placed incorrectly.

Get a good aftermarket cooler and case fans that will blow air out...

Get a good aftermarket cooler and case fans that will blow air out of the case so it won't be too stuffy for components.

Can you provide a link to the exact unit you own?
What are the specs of what is installed inside?

Dell inspiron 620s came in some different sizes.
You need to determine what size motherboard you have.
How many expansion slots do you see in the back?
If you see 4, you likely have a M-ATX motherboard.
Can you post a photo of your motherboard? Possibly it is a BTX motherboard tha would be hard to replace.

What are the dimensions of the rear psu opening?
If it is 86 x 150mm you may have a standard atx psu. Otherwise, you may have a proprietary psu.
A psu failure could also be the cause of your problem.

It may be time to just replace the whole thing.

Actually mine is custom built, I looked at the case specs through google images and then through dell site.
I'm quite sure it will fit in there, as long as it is not full atx motherboard.
https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?d=mid+atx+motherboard

Check this out anyone of those will fit, check the link for the psu I picked.
Open the case and uninstall the psu, if it looks similiar to that size of antec standard psu's.
It will fit in there no problems.

Dell's PSU's are usually very carefully 'sized' to the power needs of the system with very little excess capacity to support upgrades outside what Dell anticipated even if it's not faulty.

I'm with @geofelt as it may be time for a new computer. But if you're up for the project, fitting a hot up-to-date motherboard and ancillary hardware into an older Dell case to build a 'sleeper' is somewhat popular for modders. Just don't expect it to be easy, or cheap if you find you have to buy a lot of custom adapters you can't fabricate yourself.

I thought i had a MB failure. and/or PSU failure. Replaced the psu, still nothing. Pulled the vid card and it fired up. Not putting the old PSU back in to see if it was that, not putting the old vid card in to see if it was that... currently running on the onboard graphics and hunting for the right vid card,
