I recently became owner of an old fashioned Socket 370 based PC. It has 466 MHz CPU, and VIA 693A based Motherboard. I tried installing Celeron 950 CPU -> it worked. But the machine is extremelly unstable. Windows 98 hangs up abaout 10 to 20 minutes after boot. The same happens to NT and linux (the last one is the best - hangs up after an hour to two). After installing back old 466 CPU everthing works fine. I checked the cooling - the 950 didn't even get to 50 C... The SDRAM is PC133. I can't directly set the core voltage, but motherboard automatically set it to 1.75 volts. Anyone has an idea why is this happening?
