Question Changing SSD while keeping everything

You can "trust windows" to preserve your files, it lists the option, but really you should copy the files over to an external disk, disconnect, and leave them totally out of these operations.

Sata ssd = > NVMe is best done, I was told here yesterday, by making a mirror (not a clone) to a third drive and then install the mirror to the NVMe on the mobo. (Macrium)

After which disconnect the sata ssd with OS and see if you can get a boot from the NVMe on the mobo.

If you can't, disconnect the NVMe, reboot to the SSD (back where you started), format the NVMe to clear it off, and figure out what your plan B is.

Don't have two fully operational OS drives on the same build while you're rebooting. Disconnect one.
