I don't know the exact forum on which I should post this issue
I have an old laptop (goes back to 11 years ago), I have encountered only a few issues with it along the way, nothing unusual, until a few weeks back.

The second I turn on my laptop, there is this "CMOS" error code popping up :
https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/image/serverpage/image-id/130679iE0578F528F887F15?v=1.0

I understand that it has something to do with either the BIOS or the CMOS battery. So today I had the CMOS battery replaced with a new one. But the problem persists.

I tried getting into the BIOS, but it keeps beeping (short recurrent beeps for 10 seconds or so; it stops until I click again, the BIOS freezes and beeps, and I can't do anything about it until it stops beeping).

What's even crazier, the Laptop shuts down OUT OF THE BLUE.

Anyone have any remote idea what the problem would be ?

My laptop is an HP old model. Thanks in advance.

Update your post to include full laptop specs and OS.

Motherboard? Go to the manufacturer's website and look for the applicable User Guide/Manual. Then, in the User Guide look for the troubleshooting codes - find out what the short beeps may be indicating.

Listen carefully: Likely some repeating pattern of short and long beeps.

You can also try a google search using words and phrasing such as "motherboard, its' model and version number, beep codes, troubleshooting".
