Question Coil whine from Gigabyte Radeon 9070 XT Gaming OC GPU ?

Hello friends! I have what I think is coil whine present on my new rig I just built. I believe its coming from my GPU and I have no problems with a little bit of noise but I am worried it will damage the longevity or performance of my card. I am not expert but from what I am aware in 99.99% of cases coil whine is a harmless nuisance and not something to be concerned with aside from the audio being annoying.

In my case it is not tremendously loud or bothersome but some quick reassurance that my 800 dollar card is safe and sound and will be for the foreseeable future would be very appreciated for my anxious little brain. The card appears to be preforming fine and not degrading in quality at all. Another fear is that the coil whine will worsen as time goes on but from what I have read online it would likely get a little quieter over time rather than become louder and more obnoxious

And if you think this is NOT coil whine please let me know, again I am no expert, just a guy 😀

the noise is NOT the fans, it persists even with my GPU fans not spinning at all, could however be the case fans. I did not test with those off.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.

You might want to take a sheet of A4 paper, roll it up into a cylinder, then hold one end of the tube to your ear while the other end inspects for the source of the noise.

To add, coil whine can happen at any junction in a part that deals with power delivery. You should hear the same thing from your motherboard's VRM area, not to mention the back of your GPU. If the noise happens when taxed in a specific benchmarking run, then it's being taxed (arguably)beyond it's comfort zone) or that the componentry on the part were subpar from the factory.

If you do narrow the GPU to be the culprit, you might want to contact your seller and the card's manufacturer(Gigabyte) and see if it qualifies for an RMA.

I am almost positive that the GPU is the culprit and I submitted a tech support request with AMD, should I send one to Gigabyte as well considering they are the seller? It was purchased on Amazon not their website directly but I do not believe it was a third party Amazon seller.

As for listening and testing closely its seeming to me that the GPU is what is causing the coil whine and it is not present elsewhere. The CPU is at 100% usage the entire time (Audio of the components during a Cinebench CPU stress test)

As opposed to during a GPU stress test the coil whine is present however not horribly loud especially with the case closed and not hovering my phone directly in front of it, additionally it is at 100% usage and pulling 400w of power at its peak. (Audio of the components during a OCCT GPU stress test)

When you say the component is being taxed beyond its comfort zone does that imply that some damage could come to my components as a result of this? From everything I read coil whine isn't inherently an immediate danger but more of a nuisance. I understand I could be entirely wrong (many such cases) but I hate if one of those cases happens to be right now as I did spend 2,800 on this rig and I would hate to have damaged or broken parts 😭.

The noise is quieter when the PC is not under load, it becomes louder when I do something such as play a game or stress test it.

So just to ease your mind, coil whine is not usually harmful but it is annoying, so if you can stand that subtle hum, don't worry about it.

BTW, there is a reason why the Gigabyte brand is a little cheaper, you get what you pay for
