I installed a new HP printer into my laptop....panasonic CF-72.....later that
day, the computer would not open up. It goes to the blue xp page & thren
stops responding. i have tried all the basic things....safe mode
etc.....nothing works.

using the recover disk, I can into a page which gives me the following
options.

1. restore xp to the whole HDD.....clearly I don't want this as I'll lose
all my date.
2. make 2 partitions for the operating systems and data, and restore xp to
the operating system partition (all existing partitions on HDD will be
lost)....will this be the one I should choose?
3.restore xp to the first partition...........or this one?

I hope someone can offer some advice as I cannot afford to lose the data on
the hard drive.

Thanks

Happy is the person with a recent back-up. Take this as a lesson learned—the
hard way.
