I have a lcd display. It has a vga and dvi port.
Connecting lcd display to desktop using the vga or dvi port works fine.
But connecting desk top hdmi to display dvi port using dvi d cable and
a hdmi to dvi adapter, didn't work.
Is there a way to mak that connection work?
Thanks.

Thank you for answering.

I got a blank display. So there was no picture at all.

You are saying. that the connection should work?
Could it be the graphic card settings?
Or should it not work, just by connecting.

If you are puzzeled why I ask the question, because using the desk top dvi d port works,
it's because some notebooks only have the hdmi port.

It's some time ago I tried, I don't remember if I rebooted. I think I did.
The graphic card I normally use doesn't have a hdmi port. However the
graphic should support hdmi via dvi d using an adapter but haven't tried that.
But not to mess anything up, I made the hdmi to dvi display
test by building in a graphic card with hdmi port, and using a
hard drive with a trial version of windows 7 and with the graphic card
driver installed.
I don't know whether that is "to little software", to make it work.

Now I remember, that the desk top mainboard has a built in hdmi
port. Maybe I should try to remove the graphic card, and install
windows 7 and necessary drivers on the second hard drive?
I don't have a display with a hdmi port on which I can test that
the hdmi connection works at all.
Thanks.
