well im not going with AMD (or on a sperete subject ATi graphics) because i dont know much about em. And i feel better going with what ive heard/know more about and/or used in past experiences. (some family and friends have C2D's)

and i feel good as long as i have 1gig in my comp for RAM, but temporaily during the switch of mobos id have 756mb DDR 400. but in a month or 2 id buy the 1gig DDr2 533 and that would resolve the issue.

Definitely, at least a p965 board, preferably a 6x0i board if you have the cash for it (I like asus's plus edition of the 650i, it is basically the same as their 680i board, but for only $200 instead of $300). Getting a good cpu is only half of it, the motherboard is just as important, that's something you have to remember (in fact, my mobo was pricier than my cpu 8O since I knew I was going to overclock and done a ton of research on the board and the amd cpus when they still had the performance crown)
Since he seems to be watching funds very closely, a mobo with the 945 chipset might be okay....to save some money.

i have a stock case. the mobo area isnt big like 9.8x9.8 thats the thing, Howeve i have a bigger case down in the basm, ent, old comp overheateed broke mobo, case is nice but ugly lol.

I just want/need a good mobo + C2D that totals up to be a max of $260 (not counting shipping or tax) thats around 9.8x9.8 in size.

Gigabyte S3.... nice board (no firewire). 104 bucks.

Here is the S3 taking an E6300 up to 3.5 GHz.

Oh, BTW -- size it not a huge issue, unless there is something specific you are not mentioning. This is an ATX standard mobo, and will fit in any normal desktop ATX style case (which is just about all of them).... what case are you (or would you) use?

Jack

That is a good combo, but again its to big. Thats the stupid limitations. Whats wrong with DDr2 533?

Nothing wrong with DDR2-533 it's just that for the same price you can get DDR2-800.

right now i cant even get into my case. I locked it and i lost the key, I know stupid me. But i alwayas had it like that for ever then yesterday i didnt put the key back where it should of gone so, yeah.

k sounds good and i kind of figured AGP was dead because best nvidia i could buy would be a 7800. If prices come down on the C2d ill look for a PCie mobo that fits my needs 😀 . What are PCIex1 slots for?

6x0i? u mean 680i or r u talkin about somthin diffrent? ill go measure my other case. (interior where mobo sits) see if its ATX i think it is though.

ive said this alot but i just need a micro ATX mobo with a c2d socket (LGA 775) and a PCIe x16. And with 2x184 and 2x240. Yes down the road i will eventualy upgreade my case. but i wasnt expecting to spend much money on this. (again ive said this alot) $270, and since the cpu's prices r going down i can find a better mobo.
