So, I haven't got an amazing understanding of throttling, overclocking or any of this stuff. I enjoy games and like to run them as good as I can afford to. Currently I'm aware my CPU is behind the rest of my machine and plan to upgrade it and my mobo sometime soon. However, in the past week or 2 I've noticed more and more games struggling due to the CPU. It's at 100% in Task Manager when running games with the game itself at the top of the list of course. I only noticed this because I'm also having a lot of stuttering with it. I noticed this on Half Life: Alyx, Predator Hunting Grounds and World War Z as some recent examples from the past few days. Discord also seems to cut out a lot for my friends and myself, especially when it's minimised. I wouldn't be surprised if it's just that I need a new CPU but I want to confirm that it's just too old now and that's why it's struggling lately. I've done the basics like running Malwarebytes and checking if other processes are overwhelming the game but does seem to be a struggle only when gaming, and for most games lately it seems.
If you need any other info or I can do some further checks that help diagnose this (assuming it's not just an old ass CPU), then let me know
I have ran 3D Mark and got:
Graphics score = 10 717
Graphics test 1 = 68.52 FPS
Graphics test 2 = 62.51 FPS
CPU score = 3 152
CPU test = 10.59 FPS
Bonus points if you can tell me why my fps doesn't reach the 100+ I expected. CPU issue too?
