Hi, i recently built a PC with the intent of gaming, i have gotten all my parts off of newegg (of course) and I've come to some heating issues with my CPU.

The processor I have is an AMD Phenom 9850 Quad core.

Since I was trying to cut back on money I didn't get that much of a spectacular fan.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103050

That is the fan I bought..

Yeah, i know...

But anyways, i was wondering what I could do. I'm using the thermal grease that was already pre-applied onto the fan, i didn't know if thermal grease could make that much of a difference if i bought a better kind maybe.

Or I could buy a new fan, which I figure might be the answer, keep in mind i'm trying to save money here, so if I should have to buy a new fan, what kind? And how much?

Thanks in advance.

Room temperature is playing an important role in cpu temperature.

that is your room temperature?

and what temp do you have when run Prime95?

if you have more than 85C in Prime95 in games you will have 75-78C.

and do not panic you cpu is going to survive.

Well for what it's worth ,,I am using an Arctic Cooler 64 Pro,[same as the AC 7Pro] except for AMD cpu's,,on my AMD 5000 BE and my cpu temps on either core Never go over 100f,,,,never...Mind you though it is a bit on the large side, plus I expect to go forth with it when I upgrade my cpu a newer AMD cpu maybe next year, who knows..:)
