Cool video. What's funny is I've taken the exact same path you did in that video so many times (veering off in the forest to sneak up on that Asian LTV).

I have a hard time recording video as well with my single 570.

Here's a random video of my messing around in my forest shooting a few folks. 😉

Yeah....my hide and lean mentality is kind of a holdover from all those hours I spent playing STALKER on *one shot, one kill* difficulty. 😉 Whenever I play an FPS without the ability to lean, I really miss it.

Crysis revisited!

I remember when Crysis was first released how much of a machine killer it was, even running 2 8800GT in SLI only gave playable medium settings, it sure is different today to be able to go back and play the game on 16XQ settings, smooth as glass.

It's really in some areas a breath taking experience just looking around, I want to thank the OP of this thread for putting it here, it lent enough curiosity to go back and play Crysis from scratch with maxxed settings, it truly is an awesome game. Ryan

Crysis 1 has the best graphics and aesthetics as well as an above decent story and great game play.
Crysis warhead is excellent too, I'd almost say they're pretty equal.
Crysis 2 is a decent game with impressive graphics but the aesthetics, particularly the gun in your nose awful field of view. The guns look almost the same, the sound effects like the gun shots were unrealistic and plastic-like like a toy pellet gun.
The aliens are extremely repetitive, every level it's the same, kill those humans and aliens and move on. Very boring campaign after the first few levels. The sliding and stomping animations are fantastic though. I'm severely disappointed with the console like fov.
The above is my opinion. :)

You can (and should) edit the FOV for Crysis 2. Any other game with a restrictive FOV (BFBC2, Borderlands) should be googled for a how-to on changing the FOV which is usually set to 60-65 degrees for some obnoxious reason.

All of this is moot though, since Crysis threads should all give way to Doom 4 threads. Doom is so much more manly :) :)

Thanks for the tip!
I'll check it out. 😀
The fov was driving me crazy.

One thing Crysis 2 has that I wish Crysis 1 had, 3D Vision. It looks pretty spectacular in Crysis 2.

Another thing Crysis 2 had that *all* games should have, is Powersliding. It is just so satisfying.

Ugh....I hated "powersliding." I would much rather have had actual melee maneuevers (like F.E.A.R.......running into a room and kicking people in the face...THAT was fun!)

Somebody please explain how you can be walking along and suddenly slide like a baserunner at twice the normal speed. 😉

got the updated specs in your signature I see...
how much is the improvement from the X2 250.?

let me know when your ready and I'll sell you one of my 2500K's for $150..
take your time.
Hah, I think I will take my time. Everything is running so well, averaging 45+ with AA. Usually the lowest my Crysis 1, W, & 2 framerates drop is 35 (firefights at ultra/very high with AA), but there are a few scenes with a TON in the distance where it drops below 30 momentarily (I've got draw distance turned up to or past maximum). 😛

The overall performance increase from my Athlon II? I'd say 50-75%. It's a remarkably well-balanced system now. There are a few places where my 6870 reaches 100%, and a few places where a CPU core is at 100%, but those are rare. Well, actually GPU-max isn't so rare in Crysis & Warhead, but I've got the framerate capped at 45 for smoothness' sake.

Also, powersliding FTW.

Powersliding down multiple staircases FTW. Go go gadget skis!

Also, can't leave this thread without directing your attention to Maldo's progress on the final version of his Crysis 2 mod. Or should I say his Crysis 2 FIX. Or PROPER DX11/HD Textures patch. http://maldotex.blogspot.com/

Most of the new screenshots are before/after. CAN'T WAIT!

Ah, my friend - then you have not enjoyed Crysis 2 to its fullest. Maldo's about to release the final version of this mod, btw. Keep an eye on it here: http://maldotex.blogspot.com/

Unzip this file: http://atomicgamer.com/files/94039 [...] hd-3-0-mod

Then overwrite MaLDoHD_C2_Setup.exe with this one before you install: http://www.atomicgamer.com/files/9 [...] -tool-3-0b

Then install into your Crysis 2 folder.

Then make sure you're set to DX11 and Ultra in your game settings. Then in the config utility, click Advanced, and start by sliding the Global Preset to Ultra, and uncheck Use ingame settings. Then OK, OK, Exit, Run MaldoHD. And your previous saves will not work - you have to select Replay Level or New Campaign (not the exact commands, but just don't hit Resume game. Also you have to disable to play multi.

Indeed. Crysis2 + MalDoHD equals the current standard for graphic quality.

The CryEngine3 glass shaders are amazing, and the reflective surfaces are utterly mad.

Look at this reflection....this is just wretchedly ILL.....do you see this in Frostbyte?

(this is from a mod level, btw....)

That does look amazing...but can you play with all that turned up and get good FPS? If so, I'll be looking to download that.

Yes. I still have an old 1GB GTX 570 and I didn't have any framerate problems.....I can't remember the exact FPS, but I'm pretty sure I was above 40 most of the time. At this point, the AI doesn't do anything, though, so that might change once AI scripts start running.

I was able to record a video and play at 900p averaging 35fps on my rig - while not recording I average 45fps with all the mod's options maxed.

Stringjam, you have the best screenshots! Are they supersampled or what? I have not seen a parking deck that looks that good in the game...
