I like that it has an in-game level builder for the 99% of us who don't know how to mod. That pretty much guarantees a never ending supply of content, at least for the PC crowd.

Crytek won't shut up about the grass in C3.

I mean it looks great, but I hope they put the same TLC into other parts of the game, like AI and believable reflections...

The story was written before production of the trilogy. That means Crysis 2 was PLANNED before Crysis 1 even came out. Nothing was butchered or a "hack job." This the story that was written.

Hey btw, I was showing my brother the TacMod over Christmas, and I shot a guy with a rifle grenade - hit him dead on. He exploded. Into bloody chunks. It was amazing. Totally not expecting that, but immediately thought, "well, that's definitely more realistic!"

Also aren't Nomad and Psycho still alive? Only Prophet is physically dead, and his sentience now exists in Alcatraz through the suit. Alcatraz basically IS Prophet now, minus the black skin.

And the suit was already affecting Prophet in the first game...

I'm not sure what nocturnal is complaining about other than trying to find interesting ways to say he didn't like Crysis 2 in general.

Nomad aka Jake Dunn was blasted to bits by being hit head on by a missile. He jumped in front of it in a foolish (if you ask me) attempt to try to save Prophet and Psycho.

Unless Crytek is going to deny that the comic is canon.

Little did I know when I created this thread that it would one day be the single biggest "Crysis vs" thread on the entire internet.

I have just won at life

Yup....I love the Tactical-Expansion Mod! It's what "Delta" difficulty should have been in the first place. 😉

Only concerned with what happens in the games. Wouldn't be hard to just pretend that a comic that 12 people ever read just doesn't exist. 😀

Just finished playing the Crysis 3 Beta. Jacked everything up to max settings, but left AA completely off (so glad there are so many AA options!) and got an average of 45fps in the Airport and 35 at the Museum.

Turning on FXAA didn't impact performance, but didn't clean up any jaggies, so I tried SMAA x2 (which looks like a combination of 2xMSAA and FXAA) and still got the same performance. SMAA x4 dropped my framerate to around 20-25 but looked incredible. Haven't tried any MSAA settings yet, and I don't have access to TXAA, but SMAA x2 looks good enough to me, and it runs as well as Crysis 2! More CPU-intensive though - still keeping my i3 at 90% on all 4 threads.

Hunter mode is fun, but is played in 5 2-minute chunks (a bit too short for my tastes.) Didn't see many instances of tessellation, and there were a few flat surfaces where the texture resolution is lower than it should be, but it is looking a lot more polished than even the final version of Crysis 2. The tall grass is nice, and the trees look incredible - some tess in the branches and roots and great looking leaves - none of the infamous jaggies a la Crysis 1. Lighting is very nice, lens flare is not overdone, the water effects look better than Crysis 2 and even the promo videos for C3. And the FOV slider goes from 55-80!

Pegging peeps with the bow is just so satisfying.

EDIT: got wicked-bored after playing around 10 hours or so. Went back to Blacklight Retribution and dominated a few rounds in the pretty new maps they've added - so much more satisfying.

MaLDoHD 4.0 Final is out - if anyone's interested in playing Crysis 2 the way it's meant to be played 😛 In other words, if the PC team at Crytek had an extra year to polish the DX11 version of the game...

Thanks for the heads up. I may just roll through the campaign again for this. I've played little pieces and parts ever since MalDo got started, but I've never gone through the game again since the original playthrough.

Well, after going through some of the levels with the 4.0Final release, I gotta say it's time to replace the 570.

I've noticed that unless you can spin 60FPS it just isn't smooth enough. I noticed this about FarCry3 for some reason as well.

How does it look though? Incredibly good. There is nothing out there that touches this.

The only thing I don't like Crytek's ToD settings......I REALLY don't like them a lot of the time. Too much darkening and contrast.

I jumped back on here to post about Shone's new QMod integration with MaldoHD 4.0 - it's awesome. Bokeh DOF mostly works now, there's lots of lens flare and visor spots if you're into that type of thing, some great effects when your health takes a hit, and most importantly, there are some amazing TOD settings - way better than Cryteks (or Maldo's, since he tries to match as closely to vanilla as possible). OH and somewhat randomly, a ported Crysis 3 bow that mostly works (next version update will fix it completely, and also allow disabling the lens rainbow effect only - requested by yours truly.)

I was getting really bored with the TOD in most of the levels, too. Way too many daybreak/dusk levels, which makes the entire level too brown/sepia-toned. It's a far more beautiful game with QMod 1.92c.

Thanks for the heads-up.....I'll give it a go!

Well, I'm still not terribly happy with the ToD settings. I guess my preferences are just a lot more natural.

I decided to load up the BatteryPark level (one of my least favorite ToDs in the game) and edit it myself to show what I mean.

First, here's Crytek's ToD. Hyped saturation and darkening, and an awful yellow cloud surrounding everything (in the real world, morning fog is not yellow, it's more white than anything).

Here, I've modified the fog color, saturation, sun color, and a few other color filter settings to make it look, IMO, a lot more natural.

I guess in order to get the ToD I want I'm just going to have to make it myself. But at least Crytek makes that possible. 😉
