Tried Leatrix fix? Has a history of working with Blizzard games experiencing unusually high latency.

My lag is "normal"....i'm using satellite based internet. Yeah, it sucks. It means I can't play FPS games. My "Normal" latency is actually closer to 700-800ms. However not sure why im getting over 900/1000, it was even over 2000 last night.

I hate being a gamer on satellite internet....real bummer, and with the wave of all these new fancy games that always need an internet connnection, the problem is compounded. I just want to for once be able to play at "normal" speed.

Tonight when I get home - I will make a video recording (fraps maybe?) and upload it to youtube or something.

As for vent - I believe there are issues with certain programs running in the background while D3 is running. I believe the issues can be found in the forum.

Wow do you think it would work with my satellite internet? Never heard of this "fix" before....sound promising though!

You can find it on the wowinterface site under the name Leatrix Latency Fix. If your satellite internet is having latency issues due to packet problems and the nagle algorithm, yes it would help it. Otherwise, it won't do anything. The download is benign, runs a script and is reversible so you don't have much to lose by trying it.

played with my wife's cousin last night, he has a lvl 32 demon hunter and my barb is like 26 now. (but when we started I was lvl 19 and he was 28 in late ch 3)

Game is fun. I stopped playing with him in mid chapter 4 and went to play with my brother in ch 1 (he has a lvl 15 DH) but my Cousin in law went into nightmare mode.

After talking with him this is how I think the dificulty levels will break down compared to D2

Normal= easier than normal in D2
Nightmare= A little harder than normal in D2
Hell= a tad easier than hell in D2
Inferno= Noticebly harder than Hell in D2.

I remember normal being somewhat challenging in in D2 and in D3 I never thought it felt too hard. From what he is saying (assuming you are geared appropriately) Nightmare Chapter 1 will resemble normal in D2 around Chapter 3.

If this follows this pattern then by Inferno Chapter 2 will equal D2 Chapter 4 in hell.

Chapters 3 and 4 in inferno will introduce a whole new level of difficulty.

Right on. I'll have to try out. Thanks a lot for the tip by the way, any less lag than I have now is very much helpful!

Hello, need a quick answer, can my computer run Diablo III without any problems???

HP G62
Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU M350 2,27 GHz. Anything else is ok, but the processor is troubeling me.
Please if you can, answer asap...

Hello - not too sure. Those integrated GMA HD's are very weak GPU's. If it runs - you might be able to run it in "low" settings.

Do you know anyone who has the game? If so - you could probably use the Guest pass and try it out for yourself - see if it actually works. I Know my collectors edition came with like 3-4 guest passes lol.

Ah, I believe I remember this fix. I used it in WoW, before they patched the nagle algorithm fix in. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sets the TCP ACK frequency to "0". Disables the client from waiting for a TCP acknowledgment on the packet sent. Basically, creating a connection-less oriented protocol, like UDP.

I'm surprised they didn't include this fix with the Diablo client already.

May have to try it out!

Thanks.

Correct, and it might be part of Diablo as well but I have no way of knowing. Just a suggestion =)

To answer casual colors and/or AntiZig's question...

There is no reason to have more than one build of the same class, unless you want to experience the fun of building up the character or experiencing the story again.

Instead of going through the same crap again and again, you only have to worry about doing it 5 times this time around, times 4 for each difficulty. So you are still going through the game 20 times.

Diablo 3 emphasizes loot hunting and multiplayer. That is it's strength, and that is what it's for.

Here is the list of supported video cards.

http://us.battle.net/support/en/article/D3supportedvideo

I very seriously doubt that that will give you a Diablo 3 worth experiencing, if at all. I would strongly recommend adding a dedicated graphics card to your setup, as even a barebones GPU will offer performance far surpassing any integrated solution.

Depending on your PSU, I would recommend something from AMD's 7000 series. They are generally very low on power requirements, and something along the lines of a 7750 should play Diablo 3 and reap fairly playable frame rates.

http://digitalhippos.com/tech-review/computer/review-his-radeon-hd-7750

This particular card is about $100, and the reviewer was able to play BF3 on medium, Skyrim on High, Crysis Warhead on gamer, and the Diablo 3 beta maxed out. You just pop it into your motherboard, and don't even have to worry about a PCI-E connector.

Good luck.

that is a much better answer, for that I thank you.

No problem.

I am having a blast with Diablo 3.

But if you don't think it's your thing, I recommend preordering Torchlight 2 from Steam and getting a free copy of Torchlight.

I did, even though I am loving Diablo 3. For $19.99 it is hard to pass up.

Ok I just did a full playthrough of the beta, which consists of a few considerably large outdoor zones and a lot of dungeons and very interesting creatures. I played the game on elite difficulty non-HC. This game is so D2 it's scary. It's literally Diablo 2 done in Warcraft 3's motif. I've loved every second of this so far.

I have 1 huge complaint though. Really big complaint. I was playing my first run through (which allows you to get to level 21) as a bald, white mustachioed, bespectacled railroadman known as the Engineer. My primary weapon at level 21 was a special 2handed wrench that I had found. I got a bunch of level 22 gear that strongly indicates the next outdoor area is a desert, and this gears' icons were promising to make me look like Lawrence of Arabia. Naturally this was going to be just about the greatest thing possible. BUT THE GEAR IS LEVEL 22!!!!!!!! noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Are any of the three classes returning? It says that there are 4 new classes. Is that in addition to the three original classes, or in place of?

Also, what do you think of Titan Quest?

If Titan Quest's multiplayer hadn't been such a bear to set up back in the day, it would probably have rivaled Diablo 2 in arpg popularity imo.

The 4 classes are:

Engineer: railroad engineer, seems to have an entire tree devoted to 2handed wrench smashing, and another tree to 2handed cannon wielding, a third for tanking. Has constructs like healbots, gunbots etc.

Berzerker: Haven't had firsthand experience yet but basically wields 1handed weapons and primarily claw weapons. Has rapid attacks, charges, occasionally summons 6 foot tall ethereal demons out of his back to uppercut stuff like Bishamon and Donovan from Darkstalkers.

Embermage: Standard Sorcerer fare. I'm currently dual-wielding wands on mine.

Outlander: Basically the Vanquisher from the first game. Has some cool new attacks, same capability to wield 2h bows or dual wield pistols.

These 4 replace the original 3, but the original 3 are part of the story. Additionally, each class has a secondary resource bar that is filled through prolonged combat. Lots of abilities gain new traits when this bar is maxed (or in the engineers case, when certain levels are reached since his is stepped in combo points sort of). And then there are general traits that come with filling the bars, such as for the embermage all spells do more damage and cost no mana for the duration of the full charge (which cannot be prolonged once it is maxed, and lasts for about 10 seconds but can be extended through passive talents).

Also, I don't consider it a spoiler since it's mentioned early in the beta but the main villain of Torchlight 2 is the Alchemist (aka you, from the first game, if you played the Alch).

The music is absolutely top notch. It's the same symphony, same composer and same director as Diablo 2's soundtrack and it's immediately familiar. The outdoor areas are rendered beautifully and the game has really upped its art style from the first Torchlight. It's a blast and I've been playing the beta for about 8 hours now. Just had 3 random people hop into a game with me and run through the final dungeon of what is available in the beta and it was a great time. Lots of deaths and wrench smashing and spells everywhere. Just a good ole arpg public game.

Sounds good, I'm looking forward to it.

It seems like maybe they expounded on the Destroyer, Alchemist, and Vanquisher classes with the Berzerker, Ebermage, and Outlander classes, and then added a fourth.

I am glad you told me about the boss being the alchemist from the first game, as I now have a reason to go through the game as the Alchemist in order to kind of connect to him so that when he is made a villain it will be so much more awesome. I bought the game on Xbox Live a while back but just got a copy free with the purchase of TL2, so now I have a reason to play knowing that. I am not surprised that he is the culprit, although I will admit that Alric in Torchlight caught me off guard - I didn't really see that one coming.

Thanks, sounds like great fun.

The server lag in the evening is terrible. If you're going to require players to be online you should fork out the cash to have servers that can support the traffic. I have 100 ping during the day and 600 ping in the evening. Freakin' lovely.

Well, my disconnects are better now. Found out that joining the General Chat before entering the game resolved this issue. Weird fix that was suggested by Blizz support. Being skeptical, I tested it some. The times I never joined General Chat, it would consistently disconnect between 5-15 minutes. After joining General Chat, I never experienced any disconnects.

Crazy bug. They def need to patch this game soon.

I still get some lag spikes here and there. Nothing game breaking.

For Diablo 3? Yeah I noticed it is much laggier in the evenings, mornings/afternoons seem to be really good.

@Casualcolors - I tried out the leatrix fix....seems to somewhat work a little bit. I definitely notice better response times now. Thanks a lot for the tip.

However I still have issues with the bigger mob fights with champions. I'll be usually doing my Meteor/freeze/time/diamond skin combo when they rush me - but I notice every once in a while it will pause for 2-3 seconds in the larger fights - and sometimes I can't activate a skill fast enough (like diamond skin) or use a health potion...so I die.

I also made it to Nightmare Act II. I had to have some help with Diablo on Normal as I kept dieing and my gear was "geared" towards MF instead of +int +dmg. Plus the lag didn't help either.

I've also noticed something strange, when I had mostly MF gear (my MF was around 70%) I would find a lot of magic items...but nothing spectacular. Once I started switching over to +int +dmg +vit in Nightmare - I noticed I was getting better loot than with my Magic Find items! Also - it's not just that I entered Nightmare and obviously gives better loot in NM - however I had my MF gear for most of Act 1 NM - and I still got better gear with hardly any MF gear.

I don't get it - it's like the MF was working against me.

My current stats for my char are:
LVL 39
700 DPS
4k HP
120Arcane
~700Armor

My DPS is a little low - but i'm currently working on getting better +Int gear.

Ahh yeah - I found that out the first night I got D3. At first it was unusually laggier than normal when I first got D3 (well maybe cause it was still the first week of launch) however - joining and staying in Public chat seemed to keep my connection "alive".

Basically - it allowed me to "pause" the game without having to D/C and lose all the hard work I did for a certain level/clearing out the mobs. So I could go for a snack/washroom break/etc and not lose my spot.

I still get lag spikes but it's not as bad as it used to be.

Oh yea I really love the auction house! It's quite fun to put some of the best weapons you have (that aren't meant for your char) on the auction and see how much money you can make. I've been selling my items somewhat cheap compared to others...recently sold a 54dps weapon +1 socket +1.5crit +100Str +something else for about 15k.

Although a few things annoy me about the auction house:

1) It doesn't seem to show you anywhere on who bought your stuff - it just shows that it was sold and for whatever amount (for the completed auctions). The stuff still up for auction of course shows.

2) The sold items don't seem to show their stats, it would be nice if you can see the stats for sold items. Hey I forget what i'm selling lol.

3) I would have liked to see who bidded what for my items - that would have been nice.

4) Maybe there is all of this - but i'm not looking in the right spot?

I haven't tried stacking magic find. I will say that when you hit 60 and go back through that you get a buff that increases Magic Find and Gold Find for every pack of elite mobs you kill. I though this was pretty cool.

It's a 30 minute buff - best of all it stacks. I'm not sure what the max is but I had 5 stacks last night when I was farming for something specific (don't wanna toss out any spoilers.)

I've been neglecting selling items on the AH. I need to start though. Training up smithing and gemming is getting expensive!

Oh, and i'm up to lvl 27 Monk, Act III normal. Yes, still taking my sweet time, lol.

Having a blast though.

I've been tinkering around with stat priorities. I was basically a glass cannon up till lvl 25. No vitality at all. All +damage and +dex. Boy was I squishy!

I started reading that you need Vitality to survive Hell and Inferno. So, I switched to 75% damage/dex and 25% Vitality stats for now. That way I can get used to the lower damage output.

Not sure if I need to make that a 50% Dex / 50% Vit build once I actually get into Hell/Inferno. I believe +resistance becomes important later on as well. So, i'll have to figure that in somewhere too!
