Difference between overclocking ddr2 vs ddr3

Hey, i know this might be a stupid question. But here it is. say u have a q9450 (8x multiplier) and u use some ddr2 800 ram. at stock the fsb is 333mhz (333 x 4 = 1333), so ur best off running the ram at 666mhz (333 x 2) i hear. so say u were to run ddr3 ram with this cpu.. would that 333mhz fsb be 666mhz ( 333 x 2) or 999mhz? (333 x 3 (since it is ddr3 is their a x 3 multiplier or is it still x 2???))..

nah mate its still x2.... ddr = double data rate, doesnt change from the different types ddr, ddr2, ddr3

yeah that is true its still x 2, but what is the big deal about ddr3 anyways?? when would one need such high fsbs?
