Question Does Intel DX79TO supports Ivy Bridge cpus?

I got this mobo from craiglist for 10$ and it actually works 😀.
I found the latest bios update for this motherboard : https://web.archive.org/web/2019090...23825/BIOS-Update-SIX7910J-86A-?product=55799
I wanna ask if it supports Ivy Bridge cpus because some old forums say that its not supported.
The latest bios released in April 11, 2014 and the 2011 socket ivy brigde cpus came out in 01/09/2013. I cant find a single person that knows if this intel motherboard supports ivy bridge.

The motherboard supports Sandy Bridge-E and Sandy Bridge-EP, While the E5-1660 is a Sandy Bridge-EP if its not in the BIOS microcode it wont work. You can try to install it and see what happens.

E5-1660 and E5-1660V2 should work in theory, but it would be a waste if they didn't.

I would stick to the known working models:

All the Ivy Bridge i7 seem to be on the list, from multiple sources.

It would work.
I never had to flash bios until version 4 chips.
A lot of people dumped them because they eat so much power. But there are a few X79 boards that had power state issues so don't expect the APCI to work correctly.
