Does pci express 2 0 x16 and pci express x16 are the same?

PCI-E 16x is the type of slot, normally you put your VGA cards in the PCI-E 16x slot. The 2.0 is the version of the slot, that is important when your doing SLI and Crossifre as it tells you how the other PCI-E 16 slots will act when you add a 2nd VGA card. The latest version PCI-E 16x is 3.0. If you have a VGA card that is 2.0 and the motherboard is an old version it should still work.
