I'm helping my brother build a PC that's used for 50% gaming / 50% video editing, and we were looking at either the GTX 1660 Ti(12Gb/s GDDR6) or 1660 Super (14Gb/s GDDR6).



I was wondering if the 14Gb/s GDDR6 on the 1660 Super would give any benefit at all in video editing over the slower 12Gb/s GDDR6 on the 1660 Ti? Seeing how similar these 2 perform in gaming, if the faster vram on the 1660 Super does help out at all, we would definitely be going with the 1660 Super.



*1660 Ti and 1660 Super both are priced the same where I live.

*Video editing mainly consists of 1080p footage and occasionally 4k footage but 4k footage editing would probably increase as time passes.

*For any creative work, Adobe CC 2020 is used. (Premiere Pro most of the time)

As far as I'm aware for video playback (i.e. the editing process) the video ram speed won't make a difference. If you are planning on using Cuda acceleration to encode the video, then the 1660 Ti would be the faster card given it has more cuda cores than the 1660 super, I would go with the Ti if they are the same price as it's a fraction faster (also note you can probably overclock the memory on the Ti to match the Super).
