Is the e5200 compatible with older Mobos like say the P5GD1? Don't really feel like upgrading the MB right now as would have to buy some ddr2 memory as well. I've heard tell that although the P5GD1 sports an LGA775 socket, that the 915P chipset doesn't like dual core processors. Can anyone illuminate this?

I have this m/b in 1 of our older PC's. And no its not able to even able to take dual core pentim D's.
Core 2 duo's are right out the window.

I emailed Asus many months ago. They said the best it could cope with is a P4 660 with a bios update.

call the manufacture like asus

while bios updates say they are for new cpu's and that should work they do not specify which one
