what a lame article from a staff. if EA person talked about PS4 dominating over i7 with GTX Titan in SLI than you should write that. the only comparison in computing power is with older consoles. isn't shared memory the advancement over pc? it is the only advancement, but it is the one that matters for a gamer

Hype is all it is. They're getting people who don't know much about it excited, which if you like it or not is most of the market. They want more sales because that could potentially make them more money. Compared to last gen, this gen is quite far behind (relatively). A 7970 or 680 is quite far ahead, if anything we're a year or two ahead of what we were. If you think current consoles are "holding back" PC's now, it'll come sooner this gen, maybe in 2017, probably 2018 to have the same relative performance if there aren't any delays.

Not in this generation, but at the point when the PS3 was announced, it was actually more powerful than any pc on the market. The PS4 and XBOX One are pretty much just lower-mid range pc's.

"These architectures are a generation ahead of the highest end PC on the market"
No, the highest end PC on the market is 2 generations ahead of the next gen consoles.

Try running a proper raytracer on a console instead of hacked together lighting and tell me how that goes before you say that consoles are generations ahead of PCs.
Besides, saying something is 5 generations ahead of PCs is stupid, you're using technology that can be ported to PC in one, maximum two years. It doesn't take 5 generations to get computing technology that is available to a regular consumer onto a PC.

Of course phones are advancing faster than PCs (desktop and laptop) hardware. It's a fairly "new" segment and I'm pretty sure it will slow down just like PCs did.

Unfortunately this will undoubtedly be linked in numerous forums "proving" these consoles are technically superior to current gaming PC's... way to promote ignorance EA, just what the internet needed more of.

There is a contradiction already in both of his boasts - 8-10 times as powerful as current consoles would make it just as powerful, not more powerful, than current PC's. Then again, to anyone knowledgeable his claims already sound like PR bullshit from a company that's known for their bad treatment of PC gamers.

lol? A somewhat capable APU is "generations" ahead of a GTX 780 and Ivy? I'm confused. More like "we make tons of money off the console sector and are going to make asinine comments that hype up that segment".

Troll!
My 3 year old pc enjoyed directx 11 graphics at 1600p or 1080p at 120hz in true 3d with a ssd c300 which next gen doesn't even have.
While next generation will finally play games in true 1080p , pc gamers will jump on to 4k and beyond.

This had me laughing, worst part is hes a EA Executive has a Electrical Engineering degree and makes around $750k annually. Makes you scratch your head on how someone in that position can say that but is lacking in common sense, perception and or normal intelligence.

Thanks for the laugh.....
Maybe they are a generation ahead of PCs that were made back when the old consoles came out....maybe.... The specs ive seen so far don't hold a candle to a modern PC.

Just when I think EA couldn't be a bigger joke they come up with crap like this.
If you think the new consoles are a "generation ahead", here's a challenge for you. Pick any game, and put on the PS4 or Xbox One I don't care and then put it on my PC. My PC will win every time!

Bullshit, on paper its just a glorified APU. Although consoles do receive alot of optimization, they're now both X86 so any optimization is gonna be ported to PC anyways.
Its all talk, in 2006 when the PS3 launched it was said to be much faster than the best PC. But if we think about it, in 2006 we had the C2D E6700/AMD X2 5600 + 8800GTX which at the moment is still fairly respectable and runs modern games.
