I found that I could run P95 all night and the folding would still crash.

I don't know the tech reasons behind it but I found if the OC passed a 1hr test on OCCT the folding was ok also.

Yep, that what a lot of guys notice at the F@H help forums that even if your computer is "Prime stable", F@H can still crash due to what i said above. F@H uses the FPU (floating point unit) in the cpu instead of the integer. Thats what most programs use.

Truth is, even if AK419 wasn't down, we would need another 38,467 ppd more just to match them. With that kinda point-age gap, Only the core i7 970/980x, 2 gtx 580, or 2 overclocked GTX 480's could fill it out of single/dual items.

Only a computer farm is the other way around and i dont happen to have enough computers because :

A. to make it worth whiled as most of them are 2 slow.

B. Even out of my stong laptops in my house: core i7 720QM (with a geforce 310M), Pentium dual-core t2390, and core 2 duo 1.6Ghz (forgetting model # at the moment). I would only able to make about 7k ppd's if my memory/math severs corectly.

Core i7 720QM can make just over 4k ppds
Geforce 310M: 1k PPD
Both Pentium dual core and core 2 duo: 1k pdd for each cpu.

Although the Core i7 laptop is my dad's so im not messing with it, there 5k ppd out right there.

And the core 2 duo laptop power supply is about to fail so F@H would just kill it. another 1k ppd out of that.

Leaving my laptop the pentium dual core. Only 1k pdd...... :pfff: Although i dont even run it 24/7 due to i takes 1 1/2 days to complete a normal 48x point WU. (3 days for the 67xx wu's and 4 to 5 days for the 604x) and i dont like leaving it on long than 1 1/2 days. (been averaging about 400 to 500 ppd with my 2 wu's a week method. )

So unless you can convince other people that have this insanes hardware on out forums, i'm very doubtful we could stay ahead of red rocket. (speaking of which, I wonder where psychoSayDie been at? He was a crazy guy that was always buying new computer hardware. Most of the time he bought stuff just as they were released. Last i knew he had a core i7 980x and 3 gtx 480 and was getting a 4 gtx 480.

Snow? Im not going to see much (if any) snow he in South carolina.

You think you could magically transport that snow/snowstorm to here 😀 (yes im addicted to snow ) Not much of a heat person. 75F (about 23C) for the highs here for all week.

need to go back to ohio where it's 40's to low 50's for the high right now.

Yes, I was having problem with my network since Sunday. They seems to go out on me every few hours, usually when the WU is ready to send back. :fou: I blame it on the -30C temperature for the last few days. Hoping things will get better from now on as it is closer to freezing mark now.

And don't worry, I do need those "heaters" at least until April of next year. 😀

Well thats good to know :) Although were do you live to be that cold? Minnsota, ND, Alaska, Canada?

Anyways, yeah is seams tech always fails on you when your about to do something. :sarcastic: In you're case internet fails you when you're about to upload a WU.

Well stay warm with thoses "heaters" and Hope your network issue gets resolve.

Now i wonder what happen to sid farm. He was folding so strongly then he dropped way down back in june/ july. I remember when you and him were battling it out for first place. Oh well, Folders come and go.

It's definitely cold up here in Soviet Canuckistan. Below -20C up in PG for the last few mornings. A bit warmer today, though. I'll set up folding on my old computer at my brother's over Christmas break, that should get us another ~8K. That's SLi 8800GTs and a Phenom II triple.

Though everything else in my city is crappy, at least I never have to wear a sweatshirt/long pants outside during the day. Gets to be barely below 0C at night during the coldest days, and sometimes I don't even have to wear a sweatshirt for that. As you can tell, I despise wearing these things, and apparently my body has a built in heater as I always here "it's cold" from other people wearing like 3 layers of clothes. 😛

It seems Sid is still with us, but he is only producing about 4k ppd. Maybe folding was costing too much for him?
Snow? Im not going to see much (if any) snow he in South carolina.
It hasn't snowed here in 10 years. It would be nice to get just a small amount after this long without it. 🙁

Whatever helps [strike]us get more PPD[/strike] the world by curing the world of diseases is good. :sol:

I wonder if there is a way to force the folding client to only recieve the smaller a3 cores, I get quite a bit more PPD from them, but I don't get them often.

Well according to the people around here (Beaufort County, if you know where thats at) there was a little bit of snow that sticked durning the mid of january. Although that month in Ohio my dog and I had those same storms and were were having fun in in like 6 to 12 inches of snow. With snow drift, there were some areas with 2 feet deep.

(btw he a treeing walker coonhound thats at the large end of his size. he just looking into deep hole in the snow caused by a drain. :) )

Im just like you 😀

I hear people say that around here. Although it was the same back in ohio. I can wear an outfit that was meant for the summer during the winter times. Heck i could walk barefoot in the snow. Although that was like 10 to 15 mins before i have to come back inside. I have no idea what temp i can really withstand. Although i think it's around 20F

I say why im able to resist the cold is by 3 factors (not all these factors are proven but there my guess):

First is that my veins are deep in the body. I can barely see them on my wrist but thats about it. Thus, in theory, my veins are more insulated from the elements.

Second, i notice this when giving blood that i takes me longer than normal to give a full pint than other people. Theres been many times that i've started giving my blood first before my mom would start giving hers and she would be done just at the same time or before me. Even if i hydrate my self to the point of needing to go restroom every hour. With my thinking behind the thicker blood is, it's able to spreed the heat a bit better or more quickly than bloods thats thinner. (cant say if it is a factor or not)

Third, i know there some facts behind this, and thats my blood temp is lower than average. It's ranges from 96 to 97F. With this the lower of the temp, my body doesn't have to work as hard to keep me warm, thus making me feel warm.
There was research done on the group of people that live in northern Canada/Russia/Alaska (the Eskimos i think there called) and was trying to figure out even with the layers of clothings, how they withstand the cold as normal people would need more insulation to keep them warm than them. Turns out that there blood temp is really low compared to the average. think theres was like 93 or 92F.

Of cource thought there the normal things that everyone has like the body have the ability to cut blood flow to the skin, the extremity, ect.

😛

I like to do it for both science and the PPD (with out 1 or the other, i'm not sure if i would be sticking with it. :??: )

Although controlling the client. No. It's against the EUL or the EULA (what ever it's called) to do that. Some people done that by either blocking the severs that give the larger WU's or building some type of program that prevents the client from getting these larger WU's and the severs detect this. This could lead to a possible ban from Standford for going against the competitive spirt. I think it's temporary but im not sure how long it would last.

Although there maybe something setup in the newer v7 client that may or may not work in your favor. if it is implement, what the clients/severs should be able to do is select the best WU that fits with your hardware. Meaning for someone like I where i technically have a weak system for folding, it would give me Smaller WU's to work on while someone with a strong system like a core 2 quad or core i7 would get larger WU's.

Then again, there so many things that been recommended and alot of them been implamented i dont know what is in and isn't in the v7 client just yet. :pt1cable: I just wish they would give an ETA so we can stop wondering.

With snow on him or just in general. If snow your out of luck  He didn't have much on him. Although in general. (along with my sister golden retriver pup @ 7 months in the photo, 8 1/2 months now)

Ranger%20And%20Luna2.jpg

I do have other photo's of him but there mainly blurry due to him on the move to much :na:

Only to any thing fuzzy, it moves, it makes noise, and not a human or dog. Cats, deers, mice, rats, rabbits, and (what we think he is saying when there is a) SQURREL (outside)!!! I need to get a video of him going nuts for one.

Lol, anyways overall he's a good dog. Sometime if he doesn't like someone or something he'll do a low growl:

Like if there someone walking though the back yard while it's night time (so he unsure what it is)

or

if he in public around particular males. White skin, some facial hair thats black (not to long, not to short)very short hair is some of the things i've notice of who he growls at. Afican-american, hispanics, ect, are all fine. My family thinks he was abused in the past by someone with the same characteristics.

Although we do got a video of him howling in a very funny way. only reacting to this paticular video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Le4MTCLv5-U

I think i will get a video of this shortly. Need to get that video uploaded from my dads video recorder.

Although i got a video recording of him running on a tennis court back around that time with the snow.

BTW, in the video you'll learn his name and when you hear "Ah oh", He associated that as this,

(brb got to do watch punkin chucking 2010. 😀 )

I am at Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, or the frozen North as I like to call it.

And I may have located my network problem. It looks like my router decided to quit intermittently. At least this is what I hope it is.

Well, keep your figures cross. :sol:

Well for where your living, must not have too many "noisy neighbors" to complain about. Would love to visit the area sometime.

Only taste of canada i've gotten is the outdoor woods Bordering Minnesota, Canadian boarder . On Minnesota side the forsest i was in is called BWCA (boundry water canoe wilderness) and on Canada side it was the Quetico Provincial Park. Lots of trees but that was about it.

Well finally got that video up. Although had to walk this dog im about to show as he was being sassy. Thats why the video is later than I'd intended it to be.

Went up to Victoria, Canada on a cruise during the summer, I almost stayed there it was so nice. :kaola:

Hopefully the router is the only thing causing the network problem. At least that is easily fixable.

You need a treadmill for that dog. Letting it run on that for several hours should get it tired enough to not want to go crazy over nothing. 😛

You might be able to withstand the cold, but apparently your body does it differently. Mine just radiates heat like there's no tomorrow. People can put their hands up to my arm and feel the heat coming off them. The funny thing is that I don't usually get hot either, so my body must react to cold weather with more heat output.

IDK, i've done 2 hour walks with this dog before and he just still ready to go even after them. At least after those he's not as energetic as before the walk though. yeah i could walk longer than that but i only set 2 hours due to him not wanting to drink much water during the walk and that i need to do some stuff.

I think he would burn out the tredmill before he got tired  I think he was someone hunting dog at one point before we got him as i've never see a dog with so much stamina before. (although it probably didn't help when i was in home schooling that i was giving him 1 hour walks everyday in that park where the tennis courts are at. 😗 )

Oh wow, we actually pulled back ahead of the Rockets! Very good job everyone! 😀

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. (for those that celebrate it) Time to roll out of bed for the Black Friday [strike]Disaster[/strike] Sales (Hint: Never enter a store or you will never get out of it).
