I have an HD 7770 and a Phenom II x4 920. The motherboard is MSI KA790GX.

EXT64 may know more but I don't think you would be able to fold on the IGP. If you had an FM1/2 APU I think it is possible to use their iGPU to fold but I doubt they net much.

I hope you are overclocking that 920
I had a PHII x 4 925 which is similar and I got a 3.7 daily OC out of it
PM me if you need help

Thanks to everyone on the quick replies again! I'm seeing about 25k ppd with my system so I'm no big player.

This is my first build and after over 4 years just got around to getting a third-party cooler on the PII, so I'll take your offer on the help. Oh, why didn't I get the 940 BE...

Welcome to the TEAM. :bounce:
All help and points are worthwhile and appreciated. We have folders who contribute a few hundred to a few thousand a day. Your 25000 will be a great help for the TEAM and science.

Any question or problems ,just ask. We have some very knowledgeable folders on our TEAM.
I stress this is a TEAM effort, So thanks again for joining.
Although some of our post are WAY out in left field. That is why I carry my sign to the left there.

Okay first thing first is your homework
study this guide to OCing a Phenom II
http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=596023
just the guide
not all 100 posts LOL
after that if you are already not familiar with your BIOS settings then get familiar with your BIOS
OCIng a Phenom non-BE takes some work.
tricky because when you raise your reference clock alot of other settings get raised
also download CInebench 11.5,Prime95,HWinfo,Intel BUrn Test which are all free programs. google them and they are easy to find
if you have a 64 bit OS then get the 64 bit versions
PM me when you are ready
you should be able to get about a 500mhz or more increase on that 920 pretty easily and that makes a big difference with these Phenoms

I just reapplied my thermal paste since my temps have been a bit up and it seems I hed put too much of it the last time. At least right now it seems that the CPU has stabilized at about 35C while folding.

I'm quite anxious and nervous! This is going to be something else.

edit. Just downloaded HWinfo and it's telling me the CPU is at 45C.

edit2. It seems that I have successfully overclocked something for the first time! My PII 920 is @ 3,36GHz, stock voltage. I'm going to be running Prime95 overnight to be sure.

I would suggest running P95 for 10 mins, Intel Burn on max for 5 loops and OCCT for 30 mins then move onto the next step.

When u get to the OC u are trying to achieve then start doing overnight tests otherwise you will be forever testing at every small step.

Well managed to get some of the GPU's set up this weekend, been really busy with work.

Also Beano's got his 1st child on the way so I've sort of been pondering about all the expense that goes with it and can I justify the F@H costs and then I thought well hang on this science could provide a more stable life for my kid and many other children of the future so I went and brought a couple more 7950's 🙂

Well thats my moment of sentimentiality (I think thats a word)

Keep Folding Team..

Yeah guys, just incase your not aware, in under 24 hours from now, Stanford servers will be going under maintenance.

One of our main server rooms is going through planned maintenance on Tuesday, October 22 starting at 6:00 AM pacific time. The outage is expected to be less than one hour, so power should be restored by 7:00 AM. However, additional time will be required to bring all computer systems back online and doing a cold restart some times leads to new issues. We’ll give more updates as we know them.

Beano Congratz on the bun in the oven. How far off?

Also buy a newish car. Old cars are not fun (at times), currently have my starter motor sitting on my work desk. A new GPU is at the bottom of my shopping list =P after a water proof sound system for my car.

As for the Stanford news, 'doing a cold restart some times leads to new issues', if something is going to fail, it will be during a restart. Hopefully Stanford has no issues.

That reminds me of my boss's old PC. It had some failing caps on the motherboard and would run just fine as long as you never turned it off. I was able to revive it a couple of times but eventually an extended power outage drained the UPS and it had to be replaced (he had been using it for a long time and really didn't want to have to migrate).

Thanks, nearly half baked 🙂

I haven't owned a car for years as I have a van for work but looking at a nice Audi. Something smart and quick but also quite economical and safe.

Think I had a brain hiccup when I ordered these cards but they were real cheap, finally got everything running so will see what they do.

Can't quite believe we are approaching the 40 mark as a team, well done to all.
