Hi Pete;

I purchased PerfectDisk today from Amazon after trying both the oo and
PerfectDisk 7.0. Both did a credible job of defragging but PerfectDisk
has an offline feature that allows you to defrag the pagefile and the
boot files, then reboot back into the OS and do a Smart defrag on all
the files that can be done with the OS running. Also, it has an
optimizing feature that distributes your files in such a way that those
you don't access all that much are pretty much left alone and those you
need are placed with some free space next to them. I ended up with a 0%
fragmentation after using PerfectDisk. The interface is easy to use and
Microsoft has it listed as a preferred defragmenter program.
Hope this information has been helpful. You were right. Operating a
computer with FS9 installed makes no sense if you use the generic XP
defrag program. It leaves a ton of files untouched in the defrag process
and doesn't optimize the file structure at all.
Another thing about PerfectDisk; it's the same price as the OO program,
but at Amazon if you get it in the next two days, there's a 20 buck
rebate from Raxco! Total cost is about 25 bucks. Can't beat that! And if
that wasn't enough, I called their tech support with a question before I
installed it. The guy was one of the best techs I've ever dealt with. We
spent the better part of an hour together; VERY good support from
Raxco!!!

O&O has that feature, too.

Now that, O&O doesn't have. :)
