I'm a 31 year old layout designer from San Jose, CA. I have yet to do my first build, but I'm constantly messing around (sometimes messing up) with the several PCs I've owned over the years. I'm waiting until the first sevice pack of Vista comes out before my first build, so I've got plenty of time to save $$$.

Any asians????

GO asian power !!! :)

I'm probably going to get flamed for asking this, but I really am curious to know.

If I'd posted 'GO white power !!! :)', would you have found it offensive?

Anyway, I'm 23 and live in the UK, been a sad computer nerd since I built my very own 386SX16 at age 11 :)

I'm 19, and built my first computer when I was 13. I have built enough systems (maybe 15-20) but mainly do repairs. I like to buy "broken" computer, fix them and sell them for 3-4times what I paid. Or barter computers, I started with a p2 350,a nd have been trading computers up and up so Im at a 2.4ghz celeron laptop 512mb of ram and dvd burner in it (from that p2) and have only spent about $50 and a few old parts I had lying around. Have A+, Net+, MCDST, HDI, certs and looking for a job.

6'2"
bday on 9/11

no custom builds yet bc 1)dont have a job 2)spend the little moeny i get from parents on things that i would hate cops to find out about

friend is throwing me an old rig and i am cramming it with hd's for music, mom's friend gets 150$ off dell's + whatever deal comes around(the 30% off's and stuff) so she will prob. not let me build a custom any time soon unless throw up half(dont have a job, no money)

and the fudning by apps is good, but around here its hard to get the word out to people who you dont know first hand

anddddddddd i dont like to take people's money for small things like helping them with their ipod

22years old.
Started when I was 9 (building and selling 486's). My Mother was in the military upgrading military bases' missle control's computers since the 70's so thats where I picked up the info. Owned my own computer business when I was 14 (didnt work out but heck, it was fun). Currently Run A local repair business since 2003.

Builds ~140 - 500.

I still have my original 486 w/300mb hdd and all the SIMM memory I could ever need! And a brand new VLB 2mb video card that plays Oblivion like a dream.

36 happily living in Rockville, Maryland (near Washington, DC, USA). I've built more computers than I can recall since I got started with builds back in '96. Started playing with computers back in '89 @ college, x286...gosh, I'm old. I work for a non-secret government agency...oooh. 8O

lol. If the Japan had won the world war you could, but he couldn't say 'Go asian pride!!!' without being flamed.

It's funny how that works lol.

and one more thing is ... my life isn`t so good 🙁 .

I'm 17, I live in British Columbia in Canada, eh. I've built 3 computers and fixed tons more. My next build, which some of the parts are in the mail right now, is gonna be an AM2 system with 7600gt in an antec p180b. I'm actually an apprentice chef working at a high end restaurant called the Hastings House. I'm starting to do a little bit of computer building for people on the island, since we don't have any places here that make computers (other than radioshack which absolutely sucks bawls. they don't know a hard drive from a tv). I enjoy blowing things up every once in a while, not always in games too 😀

It seems Radio Shack is the same no matter where, on the planet, one goes. That's amusing.

Hey, 7800GT, our lives aren't perfect, and they weren't meant to be - all we can do is try to make the best of it, and hope that's enough :)
Like me here, I'm trying the MCSE and A+ this year, wish me luck! - I'll be the youngest probably in SCal!

You'll likely do fine, when I got my MCSE for NT 4 the test was still pretty easy, I know its more challenging now. I wonder how much the A+ has changed in 7 years. To be honest, neither one really made a difference job-wise (fed gov't didn't really care), but they were good goals at the time. Go for it!!

exactly the problem w/ the world in its current state. Too much "ethnic sensitivity" or "ethnic guilt" whichever you call it. Wish the world would lighten up about it tbh.

Either we all should be able to say "GO <insert racial expletive here> power !!!" or else none of us should. The simple fact that one race can say something like that while another cannot is racism pure and simple.

I am sure that DeusEx did not mean it as a racist comment, but it did seem rather oppressive from a white-person's perspective. 😉

I suppose I will just forgive it. Done harmlessly and so personally I can just deal. Of course my children may find anger in these "repressed" feelings and so demand reparations for the sins done to their ancestors. lol. 8O

The problem is that usually when people scream "Go White Power" they are usually burning crosses using white hoods or had shaven their heads and tattooed a suastica in their arms.

But I do agree with you, equal treatment is for everybody...be white, black, asian, indian, or else, none should have the right to use ethnics to prevail over the other...

HOw old were you when you took both exams?

to sojurner - You're right - I had no intention for it to be a racial comment, and Im sorry that it turned out that way.

Thanks for forgiving me!

I wish you can get MCSE & A+ easily & with no problem 😀
it`s so good for you to be the youngest probably in SCal!
& thanX for your advices 😀

I'm 26, living in Dunedin, New Zealand, originally from Sweden.

Have been running a business of my own for five years until I decided to make a move across the globe. Am now working in an IT support role at the university.

My first computer was a Commodore 64 and my first build was an 80386 25MHx SX, 4 MB RAM, 85 MB HDD, SB 16, 14" monitor. Have done well above a hundred builds since then, but my last build for myself was an AMD XP 64 3700+, 1GB RAM, ~570GB HDD in total, GeForce 6600GT and best of all, dial-up modem.

Hey, I shave my head and I'm not a racist. I just decided not to prolong the inevitable in my case and opted for the extreme edition of male pattern baldness.

lol, not really a problem man... I was being totally sarcastic anyway. I am really not that sensitive about it, was just trying to make a point. 😉

rock on.

50. From Richmond, VA USA. Started PC hobby in 93 with a 486 dx2 66. I've built 30+ pcs for self, son, mom, friends and customers over the years. And fixed countless more. Started coming to Toms in 97 or 98 when I had heard rumor that you could open up your case, move a few jumpers, and turn a k6 166 into a k6 233 and shure enough it worked! I've been an OC addict ever since. I've been a board member at tons of different hardware sites but just recenlty joined here.

29 for the MCSE, 28 for the A+. At the time, I wanted to make sure that I was "seen" by my employees as qualified to lead the helpdesk. Quite immature of me, but I was young. Studying for these is what actually taught me something. Long time ago...in a galaxy far...far away.

I'm 28 and live in Overland Park, KS, just outside Kansas City. I've been interested in computers since I was 7 years old. I have my BS from DeVry University in Network and Communications Management and am perusing a Master's Degree in Information Systems, with a focus on Databases. I currently work for an IT department in a major telecommunications company.

I have been in the IT industry for over 12 years and began programming html back in '94. My first personal machine was a PackardH ell back in '90 and started my love of games with Red Baron. I remember the PH had a 486 33mghz with 64mb ram. I build over 15 machines a year, have repaired hundreds and am currently dealing with VOIP within my job.
After having horrible service from PH, I decided to fix it myself and replaced the hard drive after picking up a boot sector virus from Junior High School. Since then I have worked in tech. shops all around the city and was one of 4 people repairing 80% of projectors worldwide for Panasonic.

Personally I've built seven machines for myself, 20 for my family. The current rig is in my signature. I have many older machines in my house running as file, backup, web, music, video, etc. servers. I will hopefully have fiber optic in my new home, some time late next year and will start with rack mount servers in my basement.
