Hi all,

I've been playing some Minecraft and noticed an issue with my PC that I wasn't having before I left for college. While playing whatever is selected freezes (other applications don't, they continue working as normal), my lights in my PC turn off then back on, then whatever was frozen unfreezes. My UPS load (what the computer is drawing from the UPS) dips from ~210 watts to ~180 then back up to ~210. This happens maybe about once every 20 or so minutes. My first thought is that it's the PSU failing, but I'm not sure why it would only freeze whatever app is in the foreground and not the whole PC or shut off the whole PC, so I'm asking for some extra opinions.

I have a 1000-watt Phanteks Revolt Pro PSU.
Here is an open hardware monitor report which was running while this was happening, it also lists all my other components and their temps/power draw : https://pastebin.com/z3rEjbNd

Solution
They're in the paste bin with the open hardware monitor report but if you don't want to click on it:
MOBO: ASUS TUF GAMING X570-PLUS
CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x
RAM: Corsair 32GB 3200
GPU: Nvidia RTX 3080
PSU: 1000-watt Phanteks Revolt Pro
try this step by step in order (read till end):
  • Disconnect from internet
  • Uninstall gpu driver using DDU (clean and do not restart).
  • Uninstall all the processors (is a must, should be 16 on yours, also when it asks for restart, click on no and keep uninstalling all processors) on device manager like this:

  • Uninstall AMD Chipset Software in control panel (if there is none, skip it.)...

  • Uninstall AMD Chipset Software in control panel (if there is none, skip it.)

  • Uninstall Asus Armoury Crate

  • restart the pc to bios, disable AMD fTPM and secure boot, save and exit, go to bios again, flash to the latest bios, then after updating bios go to bios again, then load default or optimized settings, disable CSM, enable Above 4G Decoding and Resizable bar option (these 2 options wont be available unless CSM is disabled) also, then save and exit.

  • boot up to windows and install the latest Chipset driver (should be ver 4.03.xx), then reboot.

  • Install the latest nvidia driver and armoury crate, and then connect to internet.

*do this all offline until reboot after installing chipset driver, also you may reboot to bios after all of this to set the XMP (and previous settings you did). Download needed files (highlighted word) before doing step 1, do the step by orders.

  • Run cmd as admin, then do chkdsk /x /f /r, after that do sfc /scannow

  • And check windows update if there is any and install them (except chipset in optional update). Don't forget to turn on Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling in graphics settings and reboot. Also play with the armoury crate for rgb settings and test the rgb if it's working, then try to game again.

  • Make sure the psu connected to the gpu is 1 pcie cable per 1 slot (use main cable, not the branches/split) like this:
