Question Getting no display from GPU (new computer)

My friend just bought a new computer to swap some parts out and upgrade his main PC. It is all together now but not getting any video from the GPU.

He tried inserting a known good GPU and that didn't get any display either. When booting it up on the on board display it does post and he's able to use the system.

If any of you guys have any ideas or want me to elaborate on a specific point just let me know

Please post the full system specs and configurations tried.

Knowing that onboard works, you're likely looking at an issue with the GPU or PSU, but it's impossible to say at this time.
