Well here in Canada we have more stock compared to launch, hers an in stock link:

http://www.infonec.com/site/main.php?module=detail&id=450229

Most of the time I can find one instock using shop-bot and such websites, you just have to digg deeper. 😉

Water Cooled Quad 480 Would be the monster to get unless you can put 3x5970 lol But I think 4 GPUs is the max.

I think I should buy all the stock and sell it on ebay.

Edit: Hers another one http://www.extreme-pc.ca/showproduct.asp?productid=373873&menu1id=12&menu2id=99&menu3id=39 , http://www1.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=030159

Oh well, hers the complete page lol http://www.shopbot.ca/default.asp?kw=HD+5970&position=search

We have more stocks than the US? Hows that lmao its usually the reverse.

An advertised price on shopbot doesn't mean it is in stock, just that they sell the product when they DO have stock.

If it has 416 SP and comes in at ~$300 it will be pretty nice.

If it has 384 SP and comes in at ~$260 it will also be pretty nice.

If it doesn't match those scenarios, it will be pretty underwhelming.

Not sure how i feel about the 460, is suppose to perform at the same level as a 5850 while the 470 performs about 10% more for 50 more dollars unless the 460 which i imagine is just another crippled fermi or some sort how else could they get them out that quickly i would expect it to be hot and not that cheap.

Considering the 470 imo is pretty close to the 5850 seems a little cramped to throw in a 460.

I am not thaaat stupid lol I clicked threw every link and new egg has 5970s in stock right now. 😉

I buy lots of things off infonec and they have A+ Service. Hard drive delivered next day!

I dont see any light on a 460 unless it is priced at 259$ or less.

If the 460 comes out to be on par with the 5850 or lets say 5-10% slower it will not cost 259.99$, especially when we still have the GTX 260 at over 200.00$

Look at the 5830, its a crippled 5850 with half the RoP's and it is still overpriced at 250.00$

You are asking for too much, remember its NV not AMD, NV is not going to give you 5850 performance at anything under 300.00$

Yeah it's going to have to be sub 225$ to be anywhere profitable when it's coming 2 months down the line and in direct compete with the 5830/5850. It will probably be compared to a GTX 275/285 and given a 25 or 50$ DX11 tax.

Lol 225 to be profitable, that would be shity tiny profit margins along with if it does perform like rumors say like a 5850 hell if it even competes with the 5830 which runs at 250 nvidia wont sell lower then ati, it's not in their interest when they have lower stock and high production cost.

ATI can sell lower because they move more product one would assume because they have more stock. Pretty sure it will be like 1 more sm disabled and cost just at a 5850 or under if it performs like it i'm talking like 10 dollars under.

have you checked out the prices for the GTX480 on ZipZoomFly, cheapest is $50 over (3 of them) MSRP

"Usually ships in 7-21 business days. " is not 'available', it's up to 4 weeks and a day away (which translates into about 10-32 non-business-exclusive days wait).

Might as well say... "we expect to have some stock coming in, so please pre-order now and we will ship our next batch to you when we get it, as long as you're not the X+1 person to order and thus you will have to wait after 21business days".

I guess the 'widely available' phrase will be redefined with this launch just like the term paper-launch. 😗

Also I don't think anyone expected these to sell for MSRP. :pfff:

I dont see how 416,384 core 256 bit bus card can compete with 5850.

470GTX is 320bit 448 core, 607 mhz and is barely faster (like 2-5%)

460GTX 256bit bus is 20% slower, 384 cores are 15% less. Unless the card is 700Mhz I dont see how it will compete with 5850.

I would also mention that 5850 can drop to $250 with no problems at all, or even $200 if ATI think they need to compete. As I guess 460GTX will just be binned fermi, I dont think it will be viable to be sold at $250/200 mark

but we will see, may be nVidia doesnt have options

? The 470 is ~10% faster than the 5850. Look at Templars spreadsheed, he averaged all the reviews. So if they just have a 416core binned Fermi and run it at slightly higher clocks (which shouldn't be hard to do with less cores which I would assume means less heat) the 460 could probably match or be close to the 5850, at which point it will likely be priced accordingly as nVidia has done with the 470 and 480.

hm, may be you are right

Fermi have potential and may be with lower parts where heat wont be such issue it would compete better.

There is one thing concerning me though. 480 is much faster than 470 although theoretically it shouldnt be. I can think only of the 320vs 384 bus.

So the memory bus could affect fermi performance quite severely if dropped further.

i was gonna get the 470 but... my case is not ventilated!!!! and things run a little hotter than normal in my case.... i think the 470 will run hotter than those pics and crash with looping audio like my 9600 gt!!!!

plus i don't have ac and in the summer it will be hotter ...

i think it's not logical for me to get 470... and get the 5850

🙁

I was able to place the order with second day shipping for only a few bucks more, as far as being legit IDK, but my card was charged 363.98$

Now when you type in GTX 470/480 it shows a different screen 🙁

Contacting the store ATM.....

Look HARDER Homer. BTW, it's Tempered, not so K-niggity. 😉 and it was made by Majord very early in the test so limited #s;

"All reviews ?" , yeah all 3 reviews, Anandtech, Tweaktown and Hardware Canucks.
Anand is 7%, Tweaktown 7-8% and HC is 15%. Anand & Tweak matches most other reviews HC matches few others, probably because they had two FartCry2 tests which were given equal weight with their 20+% performance in just one game.

Throwing out anomalies like that, in a bunch of hand-picked PR launch games, and you end up with a less than 5% difference.

The GTX470 currently competes with the HD5850, anything less is competing with the HD5830 not the HD5850.

And considering how much difference the slight crippling of the GTX470 makes even with higher clocks, I doubt it's a direct ratio, it's likely equally geometric in the impact of the crippling, where it'll take more than a small boost to raise the GTX460 to competitive levels.

But you're not thinking like an IHV, nVidia doesn't expect the GTX460 to compete with the HD5850, the expect people to talk about it doing so, and then when it fails to do so, then the n00bs already have that idea in their head and they buy the GTX480 thinking it has similar performance to its non-crippled brothers, just like a GF8800GTS-320 or like those who bought the Geforce4MX and Radeon 9800SE thinking they were anything like the cards with similar names.

This card isn't for people who actually look for performance results/tests, this card is for the BextBuy and Dell online purchasers, who are impressed by numbers similar to the top cards of the day.

And since nVidia is essentially selling their left-overs, direct pricing with AMD's card is irrelevant since if they get any revenue from them it''s a bonus to the balance sheet for something that otherwise would end up in the garbage or in some bulk OEM buy in a few months.

It's a good strategy that they all use, but lets not over-sell it.

Good Luck, if they try to $crew you, then advise them you are reversing the charges through the credit card company and do so if there's even the slightest hint of wavering (get them to send you proof of what you are buying in writing/email).
That's usually why big online orders I take a screen-capture of the transaction and product page, for proof I can send to the credit card company and seller to say X =/= Y therefore I'm not paying unless that's what is being shipped and confirmed.

I'm sure there will be the select few chances to get them at MSRP, but I have a feeling that window is the first day of launch versus the HD5870's first week of launch, but I expected both to go up if there was going to be supply/demand issues.
