I've installed a cd writer (external) which shares the parralel port with my flat bed scanner. Everything works fine EXCEPT my original dvd rom which crashes and gives me the dreaded blue screen every time i try to use it. Help please11

Try uninstalling/reinstalling.

Tried that and no better!!

Check for IRQ conflicts in system settings. Better yet return your CD drive and get an internal one.
