Question help and info required for upgrade of I5 650

hello , I have intel i5 650 cpu in my pc ,and was looking for upgrade so is I7 880 compatible with is?? and will there be any problems??. and is it a good proccessor for gamming purposes and a little editing?? . and is this processor ATLEAST SOME WHAT the level of I5 2400 procesor??. i donot wish to change the mother board and pc .
My current pc
Cpu:I5 650
motherboard ; intel 1156 304bh
ram ; 8gb
and other include gpu and storage
help please and DO I HAVE TO UPDATE BIOS

Is this an HP tower? If there's a model number on the tower, please provide.

With OEM machines, you need to stick to the small list of supported CPUs for the given model. Although other CPUs may be socket compatible, they may not be BIOS compatible.

Looks like highest you can go is the i7-870. I don't think you will need a BIOS update.

Even the fastest CPU available is a questionable option for gaming these days...

I'd keep what you have for surfing or office duties or for a family member's Quake 3, Medal of Honor needs, and build a far faster rig around an R3-3300X or R5-3600 (preferably the latter at $40 more), a B450, and a GTX1650 Super or RX5500XT...(cost will be about ~ $700-$750 including case, RAM, SSD, and PSU)

Ah that's great.
Well....according to that link...it should work...but the question now is....is the BIOS that's in there correct? ....and I'm not finding anything on the BIOS online.

It MIGHT work with the BIOS that's in there and all you have to do is swap the CPU....but it might not.
