Technology is a hpbby. Of course people will argue. Its like Ford vs GM or Coke vs Pepsi. People just enjoy it.

As for the rest of the world, even as a American I am getting sick of it. The world looks to us for help, then spits on us. Its like Haiti. I understand they had a bad earthquake. They have massive casualties. But every day its "Haiti this, Haiti that". Their own government doesn't care enough to try to develop the country into a decent one that can afford to keep their people safe and provide disaster plans. As a example, the country my fiance is from is Moldova. Small country, relies on Russia for a lot of things. She told me that the US tried to buy some factories and land to put jobs there. The government said no. It was a way to start developing a country that has so little.

Recently California has had crazy weather and even a tornado which is common where I grew up in Dallas/Ft Worth texas. In fact here in AZ we got the brunt of the weather with heavy sotrms, snow and hail. But the focus is on Haiti.

We have porr people here, a failing education system and Californias economy is the worst yet they have the most tech businesses and probably the most importation of any state. The focus is on Haiti.

My world has changed due to the way the world is. The US tries to help. We get spit on. We make some mistakes, other good choices. Same result.

So this is a way to keep my mind away from the world and not worry about other countries where they have rich oil barons who save the money only for themselves while they allow their own people to starve and die.

the reason were here?
we had to bond in communities to survive the centuries
what we see on the net is the opposite of what survival necessitated for us to get here, and if people think that is no large matter, unplug eberything under the sun and see what is really lying under the skin of humanity.

EDIT to last post

when its down to 32nm and the gfx is done by a 3rd party handheld ( i forget the name but thats all they do is uber low power mids gfx) Intel should be able to just walk in and take shares. the current 45nm lowest power model isnt much over 1v max. ANd thats 45nm

Yeah right because these US companies are doing it to create jobs for poor moldovans.

http://www.channel4.com/news/articles/uk/one+hundred+soldiers+killed+in+afghanistan+in+2009/3453157

100 British soldiers killed fighting an american war last year, and that was just Afghanistan.

You know why people fly planes into tall buildings in the first place? It's because of the way US companies do business and the way the US government does business. You've learned nothing.

Ummm, flying planes into buildings, blowing up children etc, have nothing to do with business, other than a particular group of people who feel that anyone that doesnt think exactly like them needs to die.
Lets let this be the last comment on this topic, as its very volitaile, and everyonre can agree, killing children is wrong.

+1

Thank you

Most Americans don't understand how abbhorent the rest of the world finds US business practices. I'm not talking about religious fanatics, I'm talking about average Europeans, Asians etc. That's why all the lawsuits happened elsewhere first and the US is as usual dragging its heels.

To listen to Jimmy bang on about poor little America, who just wants to help everyone else but only gets hate back is a bad joke.

If those US soldiers weren't in Haiti they'd just be sitting on their backsides in the barracks. What about the last natural disaster in the US, Katrina btw? The US government and people didn't exactly cover itself in glory then did it? But hey lets forget that and bash on *really* poor Haiti - the poorest country in the western world.

You might not think it's about business JD, but it is about business - the business of American arms being sold to Israel and every country who can afford the asking prices. I see the US at it again recently, selling advanced weapons to the Taiwanese. Can you imagine what would happen if the Chinese sold rockets to the North Koreans?

It was the US that got attacked first because of this, and the subsequent attacks on other countries (including the UK and Spain) happened due to being part of the US 'War on terror'. Thousands of non-americans die every year because of this but I doubt you ever hear about it, probably because people like Jimmysmitty make more noise about poor misunderstood America, always helping out and never getting anything back.

Anyway the point I'm trying to make is simply - If you as a country/people/corporation/individual do something that some other body is offended by, there is a good chance that they will do something about it.

It's about polarised attitudes. I find most of intels behaviour abhorrent, while a lot of you say 'it's just business'. If it was just business that would be fine, but it's a lot more than that.

Any chance of you leading by example then?

See MM that proves my point. You dislike my attitude, that's why you've banned me twice.

All that does is make me believe you are petty and vindictive. And so it goes on.

And btw I should be offensive to a lot of people because anyone who believes in good will offend anyone who doesn't.

I believe we should do what is right, not what makes us the most money. That is why it is quite often me vs a bunch of people who keep saying stuff like 'it's just business'. It's really just your ages old battle of good vs evil with a financial tint on it.

Theres an old movie, called the ugly american, and it capsulizes much of what youre saying.
I think German may have been a good language for you and your elders to have learned.
Twice before, we died by the thousands, and also, sold weapons and oil and medicines etc, before we offered our lives too.
So, now all the sudden this is different? Brits lives worth more? French as well? Or maybe even Chinese, Taiwanese etc etc.
Weve cooperated in the past, now its this business that you speak of that should make it stop? Britain didnt gain from the US' involvements in WW1 or WW2? Their businesses didnt profit any? We didnt let Britain go it alone, nor should we have.
Like I said, youre arguing something thats touchy to say the least.

I realise how touchy it is, because I got riled by Jimmysmittys comments.

Now is there any reason why you are having a go at me for mine and not him for his? Aside from you being an American I mean because any right thinking non-american couldnt help but be irritated by what Jimmysmitty said.

And btw it isn't about Britain, France etc - I realise most of the leading countries are corrupt as hell and almost as bad.

That's not what irritated me, it was Jimmysmitty and his continuing 'america is the shining light of the world and nobody understands us' attitude.

Like it or not, the US and UK are mostly to blame for the worlds problems.

Anyway, lets not get the thread too political 😛

I just felt I had to rebalance Jimmy's comments. It's just what I said - a person like me gets offended by comments like that from Jimmy. Haiti is a terribly poor country in dire need of help, but instead gets scorn? That's just not on. If nobody else is going to defend them, I will.

Whilst I believe you're away with the faeries, you set out to offend others then take exception when action is taken against you, at what point did you gain immunity from the rules that every other forum member has to abide by?

1) I don't set out to offend others.

2) I take exception when fairness isn't being observed, in any form. In your case that would be you banning me for something and not banning one of your nvidiots for worse.

For example, you and your friend Notty22 on the graphics forum, who just antagonises everybody non-stop and you don't even do nothing - you support him instead.

Stuff like that just proves you are a joke of a mod.

Yeah, right. Sure you don't.

Case in point.

Why am I not surprised that you would single out someone else who doesn't blow smoke up ATi's butt?

I think it's pretty obvious that if you look at notty22's comments on the articles (ALL of them are marked down to like -10 or so) and the stuff he says to others on the forum, that he is out to deliberately antagonise people.

Yet you think I am? That's just proof of your own bias. Thing is MM, you are so biased that you don't even see it in yourself. At least I'm honest with my bias, you aren't even that.

jaydee, you missed the point of The Ugly American. The Ugly American was the good guy. Anyone who doubts me needs to read the book, not just quote the title.

jennyh, for you, I recommend The Looming Tower, Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11 by Lawrence Wright. The "Road to 9/11" started in the 1940's before there was an Israel.

And let's dial back all of the personal attacks.

I don't give a rats what you think, you state that you do not set out to offend anyone and in the the next sentence use derogatory and insulting terminology to describe individuals you dislike, do yourself a favour and step away from the keyboard now, before your fingers write cheques that your ego can't cash.

No, I didnt miss the point.
Many Americans are decent and care, and many others are as uninformed as their perceptions of America and Americans are, or in other words, people are the same, some good some bad, some uninformed, some informed.
People hating on the US, I understand why, Ive lived elsewheres, and could see the influences people didnt "like", but still didnt rid themselves of, none the less. Instead, they blamed America, and held onto those things.
Sometimes those things have costs, sometimes even high ones, but it seems Americans have always been willing to pay for them as well. Just because they originate somewheres, doesnt mean you point your finger at those places, instead, Id suggest just do without them, simple choice.
Some people insist on using AMD, even when Phenom came out, and it was clearly getting smoked, at least I can admire them for that, unlike others who complained about Intel, and bought them, then even turned on AMD later on.
Theres more than a few parallels here, and no, Im not pointing fingers at all
